The ability to update predictive relationships and adjust behavior accordingly is critical for survival. Females take longer to update expectancies under conditions of outcome omission. It remains unknown whether that is also the case under conditions when outcomes are delivered such as in overexpectation.

Reward-evoked dopamine transients are well established as prediction errors. However, the central tenet of temporal difference accounts-that similar transients evoked by reward-predictive cues also function as errors-remains untested. In the present communication we addressed this by showing that optogenetically shunting dopamine activity at the start of a reward-predicting cue prevents second-order conditioning without affecting blocking.

Article Synopsis
  • - T regulatory cells (Tregs) exhibit diverse characteristics based on their microenvironment, with varying levels of expansion and suppressive functions in different liver tissues from hepatitis C patients.
  • - In cirrhotic and tumor liver fragments, Tregs show a high presence with an "Th1-suppressing" phenotype, while noncirrhotic areas have lower Treg levels that behave more like "Th1-like" cells.
  • - The interaction between OX40-expressing Tregs and certain immune cells influences their behavior, with OX40 promoting Treg growth, but this effect is diminished in noncirrhotic tissues due to other inflammatory signals.

Objective: A novel DNA virus, transfusion-transmitted virus (TTV) is identified from the serum of a patient from acute hepatitis non-A-E. Few reports have been published on patients with renal disease. Patients on dialysis were at high risk of blood-borne viral infections and little is known about the prevalence of this virus in dialysis patients.
