Cardiac myxomas, the most common primary cardiac tumors, are believed to originate from multipotent mesenchymal cells. Approximately 75% of myxomas occur within the left atrium, increasing the risk of systemic thromboembolic events. While typically benign, atrial myxomas can rarely metastasize to the brain, with fewer than 60 cases reported.

Study Design And Setting: Secondary analysis of data from a proportional meta-analysis of 30-day cumulative incidence of venous thromboembolic events (VTE) after metabolic and bariatric surgery was performed. Sensitivity analysis was conducted a) including all studies regardless of duplication (uncorrected sample) and b) comparing it to a corrected sample of studies.
Importance: Most patients with locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recur within the liver following systemic therapy.
Objective: To determine whether stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) improves outcomes in patients with locally advanced HCC compared with sorafenib alone.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter phase 3 randomized clinical trial randomized patients with HCC 1:1 to sorafenib or SBRT followed by sorafenib, stratified by performance status, liver function, degree of metastases, and macrovascular invasion.
Chronic fetal hypoxia is one of the most common complications of pregnancy and can programme cardiac abnormalities in adult offspring including ventricular remodelling, diastolic dysfunction and sympathetic dominance. However, the underlying mechanisms at the level of the cardiomyocyte are unknown, preventing the identification of targets for therapeutic intervention. Therefore, we aimed to link echocardiographic data with cardiomyocyte function to reveal cellular mechanism for cardiac dysfunction in rat offspring from hypoxic pregnancy.
