Assessment of IL-8, RANTES, MIG, MCP-1, IP-10, and IL-12p70 and Their Association with Anxiety and Quality of Life in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease or After Kidney Transplantation.

Anxiety is a subjective feeling of fear in response to stressful or threatening situations. Chronic diseases (such as chronic kidney disease) or the state after kidney transplantation are such situations and they may result in a decreased quality of life. The main aim of this research was to evaluate if the proteins IL-8, RANTES, MIG, MCP-1, IP-10, and IL-12p70 could be indicators of higher levels of anxiety or decreased quality of life in chronically ill women.

Evaluation of BRIP-1 (FANCJ) and FANCI Protein Expression in Ovarian Cancer Tissue.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. Markers associated with ovarian cancer are still being sought. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of BRIP-1 (FANCJ) and FANCI proteins in ovarian cancer tissue and to assess these expressions in differentiating the described clinical features.

Electronic Spectroscopy of the Halogenated Criegee Intermediate, ClCHOO: Experiment and Theory.

A chlorine-substituted Criegee intermediate, ClCHOO, is photolytically generated using a diiodo precursor, detected by VUV photoionization at 118 nm, and spectroscopically characterized via ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis)-induced depletion of / = 80 under jet cooled conditions. UV-vis excitation resonant with a π* ← π transition yields a significant ground state depletion, indicating a strong electronic transition and rapid photodissociation. The broad absorption spectrum peaks at 350 nm and is attributed to contributions from both (∼70%) and (∼30%) conformers of ClCHOO based on spectral simulations using a nuclear ensemble method.

Towards valorization of glycerol and molasses: Carbon-based catalysts from molasses for the synthesis of acetins.
