Molecular subtypes, such as defined by The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), delineate a cancer's underlying biology, bringing hope to inform a patient's prognosis and treatment plan. However, most approaches used in the discovery of subtypes are not suitable for assigning subtype labels to new cancer specimens from other studies or clinical trials. Here, we address this barrier by applying five different machine learning approaches to multi-omic data from 8,791 TCGA tumor samples comprising 106 subtypes from 26 different cancer cohorts to build models based upon small numbers of features that can classify new samples into previously defined TCGA molecular subtypes-a step toward molecular subtype application in the clinic.

Dietary supplements have improved performance and muscle hypertrophy in athletes and nonathletes in the past few decades. Theracurmin, a nutraceutical supplement based on curcumin, has been highlighted by its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in physiological and pathological conditions. This study aimed to investigate the effects of theracurmin intake (300 mg/kg), containing 30 mg/kg of curcumin, in male Swiss mice (n = 66) under distinct protocols of climbing stairs (strength exercise) and their respective detraining period.

The sudden death of a previously healthy infant is a devastating event for a family-the death of 2 even more unimaginable. Prior to the debunking of Meadow's law, a legal concept attributing multiple unexplained infant deaths to Munchausen by proxy, these events could lead to the wrongful prosecution of those who had lost their children to "sudden unexpected infant death (SUID)." Today, these cases, wherein multiple infants within one family pass inexplicably, raise suspicion for a possible genetic cause and point toward a need for postmortem genetic testing.

To present a pediatric patient with a unique configuration of torpedo maculopathy complicated by macular choroidal neovascularization (CNV). A single case was retrospectively reviewed. An 8-year-old male child presented with decreased vision in the left eye and was found to have 2 distinct torpedo maculopathy lesions, 1 a smaller hypopigmented lesion in the temporal parafovea and the other a larger hyperpigmented comet-shaped lesion in the temporal periphery.

Although sperm sexing technology has progressed considerably in the last decade, there are still challenges to fully understand the reason for the low fertility of sexed sperm. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the effect of sexed and non-sexed sperm on the proteome of bovine oviduct epithelial cells (BOECs). Semen from six Nellore bulls was used and one ejaculate from each bull was collected and separated into three fractions: non-sexed, sexed for X-sperm and sexed for Y-sperm.
