Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) is an acquired medical condition characterized by innate immune dysregulation following respiratory exposure to water-damaged buildings (WDB). This chronic syndrome involves a range of symptoms that simultaneously affecting multiple organ systems. The purpose of this literature review was to search the published literature for successful treatments for chronic inflammatory response syndrome, an under-recognized, underdiagnosed, multisymptom multisystem illness that can affect up to 25% of the population, thus representing a silent epidemic.

Lipid mediators, which include specialized pro-resolving mediators and classic eicosanoids, are pivotal in both initiating and resolving inflammation. The regulation of these molecules determines whether inflammation resolves naturally or persists. However, our understanding of how these mediators are regulated over time in various inflammatory contexts is limited.

Loneliness and Alcohol use among College Students During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Rural Appalachia.

Objective: Binge drinking and heavy alcohol use are highly prevalent among college students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, due to lockdown restrictions and other challenges, many college students were burdened with loneliness, which can contribute to chronic stress, and substance use. The current study explores the association between loneliness and various levels of alcohol use among college students in the rural, underserved region of Central Appalachia, USA.

Reduction in preventable time-critical dose omissions: impact of electronic medication management systems on in-patients.

: The omission of time-critical medication doses may result in poor patient outcomes. There are few publications about the influence of electronic medication management (EMM) systems, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADC), on timely medication administration. The study aimed to evaluate the influence of EMM systems, including ADCs, on timely medication administration 6 and 30 months after EMM implementation, focussing on preventable time-critical medication dose omissions and documented reasons for not administering a dose.
