Acrometastasis is an extremely rare diagnosis, invariably associated with poor prognosis. A 60-year-old female with complaints of cough and breathing difficulty also presented with pain and swelling in her left leg. Radiological investigations suggested a double primary in the lung and leg; histopathology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) confirmed the lesion in the leg to be metastatic from the lung primary.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent research highlights the increasing use of natural biopolymers, specifically guar gum (GG), as polymer electrolytes in electrochemical devices, with promising results from AlO nanofiber enhancements.
  • The best-performing gel electrolyte, containing 7.5 wt% AlO nanofibers, demonstrated a high room temperature ionic conductivity of 2.37 × 10 S/cm, indicating that these nanofibers significantly improve ion transport within the GG matrix.
  • Various analytical techniques confirm the conductive properties of the nanofibers, while electrochemical tests reveal good performance metrics, including stable discharge capacities and high thermal and mechanical stability for the nanofiber-dispersed BGEs.

Unlabelled: As per Globocan 2012, every year the incidence of head and neck cancer is 683235/1000000 with a mortality of around 375665/1000000 thus being the sixth cause of cancer death throughout the world. Head and neck cancer includes cancer of the nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx, larynx, and oral cavity. Early diagnosis of head and neck cancer is very challenging, hence detecting mucosal lesions at an early stage decreases mortality thereby improving overall survival, disease-free survival, and quality of life.

Article Synopsis
  • Peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG), formerly known as giant cell epulis, is a benign overgrowth in the oral cavity, often related to irritation, and can impact daily functions and psychological well-being when large enough.* -
  • A case study involving a 9-year-old boy highlighted how a sizable PGCG affected his chewing, leading to surgical removal under general anesthesia, with a successful recovery over the following months.* -
  • To achieve optimal healing and prevent recurrence, thorough diagnosis and complete excision of the lesion, along with addressing any irritating factors, are essential.*

The taxonomy of the Cryptococcus gattii species complex continues to evolve, and has been divided into five pathogenic species. The objective of this systematic review was to summarise the geographical distribution of the C gattii species complex and the species within the C gattii species complex. We searched PubMed for articles related to human, animal, ecological, or laboratory-based studies of C gattii species complex isolates with traceable geographical origin published from January, 1970, until September, 2021.
