Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy complication characterized by hypertension, proteinuria, endothelial dysfunction, and complement dysregulation. Placenta-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs), necessary in maternal-fetal communication, might contribute to PE pathogenesis. Moreover, neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) play a pathogenic role in other complement-mediated pathologies, and their contribution in PE remains unexplored.

Introduction: Our objective is to study the relationship between armed conflict injuries and pain and the treatments that have been applied to Ukrainian injured soldiers in our hospital.

Methods: We performed an observational study of a sample of 91 injured soldiers. The metrics we selected for the study included time from injury, length of stay, diagnosis, treatment, type and intensity of pain and questionnaires about pain and quality of life for the group of amputees.

Importance: Synaptic dysfunction is involved in schizophrenia pathophysiology. However, whether in vivo synaptic density is reduced in early stages of psychosis, including its high-risk states, remains unclear.

Objective: To investigate whether synaptic density (synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A [SV2A] binding potential) is reduced in first-episode psychosis (FEP) and in clinical high risk (CHR) and investigate the effect of cannabis use on synaptic density and examine its relationship with psychotic symptoms and gray matter microstructure across groups.

Tubulointerstitial fibrosis associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) represents a global health care problem. We previously reported that short and dysfunctional telomeres lead to interstitial renal fibrosis; however, the cell-of-origin of kidney fibrosis associated with telomere dysfunction is currently unknown. We induced telomere dysfunction by deleting the Trf1 gene encoding a telomere-binding factor specifically in renal fibroblasts in both short-term and long-term life-long experiments in mice to identify the role of fibroblasts in renal fibrosis.
