Here, we report the draft genome sequences of sp. MMG031 and sp. MMG032, isolated from coral-associated dinoflagellate , assembled and analyzed by undergraduate students participating in a Marine Microbial Genomics (MMG) course.

CMV-associated collapsing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis after kidney transplant in a pediatric patient.

Background: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a significant cause of morbidity among immunocompromised patients who have undergone kidney transplantation and is known to rarely induce collapsing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) among adults.

Methods: We present the first reported case of CMV-induced collapsing FSGS in a pediatric patient after kidney transplant.

Results: Our patient underwent a deceased donor kidney transplant due to end-stage renal disease secondary to lupus nephritis.

Management of hemodynamically stable wide QRS complex tachycardia in patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators.

Unlabelled: Management of hemodynamically stable, incessant wide QRS complex tachycardia (WCT) in patients who already have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is challenging. First-line treatment is performed by medical staff who have no knowledge on programmed ICD therapy settings and there is always some concern for unexpected ICD shock. In these patients, a structured approach is necessary from presentation to therapy.

Comparison of Lesional Juvenile Myositis and Lupus Skin Reveals Overlapping Yet Unique Disease Pathophysiology.

Objective: Skin inflammation heralds systemic disease in juvenile myositis, yet we lack an understanding of pathogenic mechanisms driving skin inflammation in this disease. We undertook this study to define cutaneous gene expression signatures in juvenile myositis and identify key genes and pathways that differentiate skin disease in juvenile myositis from childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: We used formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded skin biopsy samples from 15 patients with juvenile myositis (9 lesional, 6 nonlesional), 5 patients with childhood-onset SLE, and 8 controls to perform transcriptomic analysis and identify significantly differentially expressed genes (DEGs; q ≤ 5%) between patient groups.
