Plasticizers are employed to stabilize films by safeguarding their physical stability and avoiding the degradation of the loaded therapeutic drug during processing and storage. In the present study, the plasticizer effect (glycerol) was studied on bioadhesive films based on sodium alginate (SA), carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and gelatin (GE) polymers loaded with amphotericin B (AmB). The main objective of the current study was to assess the morphological, mechanical, thermal, optical, and barrier properties of the films as a function of glycerol (Gly) concentration (0.

Objective: Peripheral arterial stenoses (PAS) are commonly investigated with duplex ultrasound (DUS) and angiography, but these are not functional tests. Fractional flow reserve (FFR), a pressure based index, functionally assesses the ischaemic potential of coronary stenoses, but its utility in PAS is unknown. FFR in the peripheral vasculature in patients with limb ischaemia was investigated.

Article Synopsis
  • Pulmonary lymphangitic carcinomatosis involves the spread of cancerous cells to the lungs' lymphatic system, causing inflammation and swelling, and is often seen in people with a history of cancer.
  • The symptoms usually affect the respiratory system, but some patients may present atypically, and initial chest x-rays may not show clear signs of the disease.
  • Diagnosis may require advanced imaging techniques and tissue analysis, and once identified, the prognosis is generally poor, with treatment focusing on the underlying cancer, as demonstrated in a rare case of a man without prior cancer history.
