Background: Mechanical thrombectomy is a useful technique in patients with high-risk pulmonary embolism. It is indicated as an alternative to systemic fibrinolysis when it is contraindicated or as an adjuvant therapy when it fails.

Objective: To describe clinical characteristics, evolution and survival of patients with high-risk pulmonary embolism who have undergone mechanical thrombectomy.

Introduction: The role of oscillometry in interstitial lung disease (ILD) is still unclear. The main objective of our study was to describe the parameters determined by oscillometry in these patients and compare them with those obtained in conventional respiratory function tests.

Introduction: High-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy (HFNC) has been shown to be a useful therapy in the treatment of patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), but its efficacy is still unknown in patients with COVID-19. Our objective is to describe its utility as therapy for the treatment of ARDS caused by SARS-CoV-2.

Methods: A retrospective, observational study was performed at a single centre, evaluating patients with ARDS secondary to COVID-19 treated with HFNC.

Pneumocystis in humans is caused by a unicellular and eukaryotic organism called . The overall incidence of pneumonia (PCP) has decreased with the use of highly active antiretroviral therapy and the use of chemoprophylaxis with trimethroprim sulfametoxazole (TMP/SMX) in cases of immunosuppressed patients. However, approximately 85% of patients with advanced HIV infections continue to experience this disease with inadequate management.

The aim of this study was to analyze whether FeNO levels in acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) with hospital admission have better diagnostic value than eosinophilia in blood, and to evaluate its usefulness in predicting a better clinical response. An observational prospective study of patients with AECOPD was carried out. FeNO determinations were made on arrival at the emergency room (ER), at discharge and during stability 3-6 months after discharge.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is the name that has been used in recent years for Wegener's granulomatosis. This condition is a systemic inflammatory disease characterised by necrotizing vasculitis that affects small and medium-sized blood vessels (capillaries, arterioles, venules and arteries). The granulomatous inflammation affects the respiratory system; it also commonly affects the kidney and can very rarely affect large vessels such as the aorta and the surrounding retroperitoneal tissue.

Bazex syndrome, or paraneoplastic acrokeratosis, is a rare psoriasis-like paraneoplastic skin disease, characterized by erythema and scaling, which is accompanied by hyperkeratotic lesions. The tumors most frequently associated with Bazex syndrome are squamous cell carcinomas of the upper respiratory and digestive tracts, whereas lung cancers, particularly adenocarcinomas, are rarely associated. We present a case in which both pulmonary adenocarcinoma and Bazex syndrome were present.
