Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease, is associated with accelerated atherosclerosis and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), but the causal factors have yet to be completely elucidated. The studies show that the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MtS) was significantly higher in RA patients compared to the population. In RA and MetS inflammation and atherosclerosis are closely linked.
