Background: Plant-based dietary patterns are becoming increasingly popular due to environmental and health impacts, yet there are few studies exploring the relationship between plant-based dietary patterns and venous thromboembolism (VTE) in different genetic backgrounds.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate how plant-based dietary pattern and genetic susceptibility independently or jointly affect VTE and its subtypes of pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis.

Methods: A total of 183,510 participants who were White British ethnicity background and free of VTE at baseline in the UK Biobank were recruited, in consideration that the selection of genetic variants for VTE was based on results of White European individuals.

Accurate prediction of drug-target interactions (DTIs) is pivotal for accelerating the processes of drug discovery and drug repurposing. MVCL-DTI, a novel model leveraging heterogeneous graphs for predicting DTIs, tackles the challenge of synthesizing information from varied biological subnetworks. It integrates neighbor view, meta-path view, and diffusion view to capture semantic features and employs an attention-based contrastive learning approach, along with a multiview attention-weighted fusion module, to effectively integrate and adaptively weight the information from the different views.

Background: Although the information on the validation status of electronic sphygmomanometer (ES) devices in use in health care institutions and households is much more clinically relevant than that of ES models available on the market, it remains insufficient.

Methods: A national survey was conducted across all administrative regions of mainland China to assess the validation status of ESs. Fifty-eight cities were selected with stratification by municipality, provincial capital, and other cities, and health care institutions and households in each city were chosen by convenience to identify ES devices in use according to the study protocol.

We found recently that a C-C bonding phenyl-quinone product was produced with high yield (96%) from the reaction between 2,5-dichloro-1,4-Benzoquinone (DCBQ) and N-phenylbenzohydroxamic acid (N-PhBHA) via an unusual Claisen rearrangement mechanism, accompanied with the concurrent formation of the minor byproducts amide (N-phenylBenzamide, N-PhBA; only 2% yield) and hydroxychloroquinone (2% yield). Surprisingly, when DCBQ was replaced with its reduced form 2,5-dichloro-1,4-hydroquinone (DCHQ), no C-C bonding product was detected, whereas N-PhBA (83% yield) and hydroxychloroquinone (80% yield) became the predominant products, indicating a dramatic mechanistic shift. The ascorbate reduction experiment suggested that it was not DCHQ itself, but its corresponding semiquinone radical, that directly reacts with N-PhBHA.

This paper presents an analytical solution derived with force method for the internal forces in the ring lining of maglev train tunnels, which are typically in a circular section and shallowly buried with low vacuum air pressure in the lining. The model incorporates the vacuum pressure induced by the differences in air pressures outside and inside the lining, and the vacuum pressure is assumed to be the active load exerting to the outside of the lining. The model assumes the vertical overburden acting on the lining is proportional to the soil depth at every particular point along the tunnel lining circumference.

Topological photonic crystals have great potential in the application of on-chip integrated optical communication devices. Here, we successfully construct the on-chip transmissible topological edge states using one-dimensional Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) photonic crystals with defect cavities on silicon-on-insulator slab.
