Healthcare decision-makers' perspectives on evaluating conflict management training in paediatric healthcare: a utilisation-focused qualitative study.

Background: Conflict is prevalent across healthcare settings but is especially common in paediatrics, where high emotional stakes and parental expectations often intensify disagreements. Conflict can lead to negative outcomes for hospitals, staff and patients. Effective conflict management training can mitigate these impacts, but evaluating such training programmes remains challenging due to a lack of standardised tools and best practices.

Radiotracers for in situ infection imaging: Experimental considerations for in vitro microbial uptake of gallium-68-labeled siderophores.

In vitro screening of gallium-68(Ga)-siderophores in pathogens relevant to infections is valuable for determining species specificity, their effect on cell viability, and potential clinical applications. As the recognition and internalization of siderophores relies on the presence of receptor- and/or siderophore-binding proteins, the level of uptake can vary between species. Here, we report in vitro uptake validation in Escherichia coli with its native siderophore, enterobactin (ENT) ([Ga]Ga-ENT), considering different experimental factors.

[Ga]Ga-Schizokinen, a Potential Radiotracer for Selective Bacterial Infection Imaging.

Gallium-68-labeled siderophores as radiotracers have gained interest for the development of infection-specific imaging diagnostics. Here, we report radiolabeling, screening, and pharmacokinetics (PK) of gallium-68-labeled schizokinen ([Ga]Ga-SKN) as a new potential radiotracer for imaging bacterial infections. We radiolabeled SKN with ≥95% radiochemical purity.

Leadership development programmes in healthcare research: a systematic review, meta-analysis and meta-aggregation.

Background: Academic institutions benefit from researchers adopting leadership positions and, subsequently, leadership development programmes are of increasing importance. Despite this, no evaluation of the evidence basis for leadership development programmes for healthcare researchers has been conducted. In this study, the authors reviewed leadership development programmes for healthcare researchers and aimed to identify their impact and the factors which influenced this impact.

Identification of nutrition factors in the metabolic syndrome and its progression over time in older adults: analysis of the TUDA cohort.

Background: Nutrition is recognized as playing an important role in the metabolic syndrome (MetS), but the dietary components involved are unclear. We aimed to investigate nutrition factors in relation to MetS and its progression in older adults over a follow-up period of 5.4 years.

Sleep disorders in chronic kidney disease.

Sleep disorders are highly prevalent in chronic kidney disease (CKD) but are often under-recognized. Restless legs syndrome, which is common in CKD owing to issues with dopamine metabolism and is exacerbated by iron deficiency and uraemia, can lead to poor sleep quality and increased daytime fatigue. Insomnia is also prevalent in CKD, particularly in patients requiring dialysis, with increased sleep latency and sleep fragmentation being reported.

Gold standard research and evidence applied: The Inspire Nursing Leadership Program.

Billions of dollars are invested annually in leadership development globally; however, few programs are evidence-based, risking adverse outcomes, and wasted time and money. This article describes the novel Inspire Nursing Leadership Program (INLP) and the outcomes-based process of incorporating gold standard evidence into its design, delivery, and evaluation. The INLP design was informed by a needs analysis, research evidence, and by nursing, Indigenous, and equity, diversity, and inclusion experts.

Supporting Employment Consultants to Implement Supported and Customized Employment.

Implementing supported and customized employment in all their components is essential for supporting job seekers with disabilities to achieve their career goals. We asked 42 employment consultants in nine employment programs to respond daily to three quick questions about their employment support activities, for 6 months. Through monthly coaching, we helped the managers of these organizations engage their teams of employment consultants to interpret the data, reflect, set goals, and take action for quality improvement.

HTATIP2 regulates arteriogenic activity in monocytes from patients with limb ischemia.

Use of autologous cells isolated from elderly patients with multiple comorbidities may account for the modest efficacy of cell therapy in patients with chronic limb threatening ischemia (CLTI). We aimed to determine whether proarteriogenic monocyte/macrophages (Mo/MΦs) from patients with CLTI were functionally impaired and to demonstrate the mechanisms related to any impairment. Proarteriogenic Mo/MΦs isolated from patients with CLTI were found to have an impaired capacity to promote neovascularization in vitro and in vivo compared with those isolated from healthy controls.

Obstructive sleep apnea in the patient with atrial fibrillation: current knowledge and remaining uncertainties.

Purpose Of Review: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is highly prevalent in patients with atrial fibrillation and plays a causal role for OSA in the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation. The presence of OSA in atrial fibrillation is associated with increased symptom burden and increased risk of hospitalizations. Furthermore, untreated OSA is associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation recurrence post ablation or cardioversion, and observational studies suggest that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy can attenuate this risk.

Training for managing impacted fetal head at caesarean birth: multimethod evaluation of a pilot.

Background: Implementation of national multiprofessional training for managing the obstetric emergency of impacted fetal head (IFH) at caesarean birth has potential to improve quality and safety in maternity care, but is currently lacking in the UK.

Objectives: To evaluate a training package for managing IFH at caesarean birth with multiprofessional maternity teams.

Methods: The training included an evidence-based lecture supported by an animated video showing management of IFH, followed by hands-on workshops and real-time simulations with use of a birth simulation trainer, augmented reality and management algorithms.

Mechanical aortic valve may no longer be a contraindication to inner branch aortic arch endografts.

Objectives: The presence of a mechanical aortic valve has been a contraindication to the use of an arch branch aortic endograft due to the risk of damaging the valve, resulting in acute aortic regurgitation, or a trapped endograft.

Methods: We present a 67-year-old woman, with a background of Marfan's syndrome and a previous Bentall's procedure, who presented with a symptomatic enlarging aortic arch and descending thoracic aortic aneurysm, with a type 1A endoleak.

Results: Using an inner branch arch endograft (Cook Medical, Bloomington, Indiana), the nose cone of the delivery system was passed laterally through the semi-circular aperture of the mechanical aortic valve to facilitate deployment just distal to the coronary buttons.
