Background: There is growing recognition in the literature of the 'Herculean' efforts required to bring about change in healthcare processes and systems. Leadership is recognised as a critical lever for implementation of quality improvement (QI) and other complex team-level interventions; however, the processes by which leaders facilitate change are not well understood. The aim of this study is to examine 'how' leadership influences implementation of QI interventions.

Barriers to Implementing Patient-Centred Care: An Exploration of Guidance Provided by Ontario's Health Regulatory Colleges.

The philosophy of patient-centred care has become widely embraced but its implementation is dependent on interrelated factors. A factor that has received limited attention is the role of policy tools. In Ontario, one method government can use to promote healthcare priorities is through health regulatory colleges, which set the standard of practice for health professionals.
