Methods: This is a secondary analysis of 150 patients randomized into 5 groups, using different articulations: Charnley/Charnley Ogee for steel and conventional polyethylene (CPE), or Spectron EF/Reflection with either CPE or highly cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) cups, paired with heads made of either cobalt-chromium (CoCr) or oxidized zirconium (OxZr). All cups were cemented.
Importance: Despite increased use of antibiotic-loaded bone cement (ALBC) in joint arthroplasty over recent decades, current evidence for prophylactic use of ALBC to reduce risk of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is insufficient.

The present study aims to demonstrate that this line of thinking is incorrect and is a misunderstanding of both the Kaplan-Meier method and competing risks.
Methods: This study demonstrated the differences, misunderstandings, and interpretations of classical, competing-risk, and illness-death models with use of data from the Norwegian Arthroplasty Register for 15,734 cemented and 7,867 uncemented total hip arthroplasties (THAs) performed from 1987 to 2000, with fixation as the exposure variable.
Introduction: Decompression sickness (DCS) has traditionally been categorized as type I DCS, affecting joints and skin, and type II affecting the nervous system. In the present study, we wanted to examine whether divers with a history of neurological DCS demonstrated a pattern of symptoms and clinical neurological and neurophysiological signs different from divers with other manifestations of DCS or no history of DCS.

Purpose: The current study investigated the distribution of hamstrings graft size and body mass index and any potential effect on the risk of revision surgery in a large prospective cohort of patients undergoing ACL reconstruction. This could make an impact on the rerupture rate and reduce the risk of revisions in patients undergoing double-bundle ACL reconstruction compared with patients reconstructed with a traditional single-bundle technique. Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of, and occupational risk factors for, hand eczema in Norway.
Background: Revisions after knee arthroplasty are expected to increase, and the epidemiology of failure mechanisms is changing as new implants, technology, and surgical techniques evolve.
Questions/purposes: (1) Was there improvement in survival for TKA and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) when comparing two consecutive 11-year periods with similar followups in a national registry?
