Data Sources: Pertinent data were identified primarily through a search of MEDLINE and PubMed (1966-November 2010) using the primary search terms everolimus, RAD001, renal cell carcinoma, and mTOR inhibitors.

Study Selection And Data Extraction: Studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of everolimus in patients with cancer were evaluated, including Phase 1, 2, and 3 trials.

Objective: To report the successful desensitization of a patient to oxaliplatin utilizing an 8-hour desensitization regimen in a controlled environment.

Case Summary: A 53-year-old white woman with metastatic colon cancer was receiving oxaliplatin, bevacizumab, and capecitabine every 2 weeks, with a partial response to therapy. On her fifth cycle of this regimen, she experienced diaphoresis, hypotension, nausea, abdominal cramping, and coryza.
