- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) affects many medical students, with this study aiming to assess its prevalence and associated factors among students at Kasturba Medical College in India.
- Out of 397 participants, 16.9% were identified as likely having IBS, with a notable higher incidence in females (20.8%) compared to males (11.4%).
- The study found that IBS prevalence was higher among NRI students (28.6%) and those on a predominantly vegetarian diet (19.1%), while those living at home reported lower rates (14.5%).
