Fungal colonization by aspergillus usually occurs in pre-existing lung cavities mostly due to post-tubercular sequelae. Colonization of a hydatid cavity is very rare. We hereby report this unusual co-infection in a 55 years old diabetic male patient who was diagnosed pre-operatively and was managed with surgery, anti-fungal agents, and anthelminthics.

Background: Aminoglycoside resistance is a growing challenge, and it is commonly mediated by the aminoglycoside-modifying enzymes (AMEs), followed by 16S rRNA methyl transferase. Plazomicin, a novel aminoglycoside agent approved by the Food and Drug Administration for complicated urinary tract infections is proven to overcome resistance mediated by AMEs but not due to 16S rRNA methyl transferase (16SRMTases). We undertook this study to predict the efficacy of plazomicin in India based on the antimicrobial resistance profile derived from whole-genome sequencing (WGS).

Staphylococcal surface protein sasX is a colonization mediating virulence factor in ST239 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains, which potentially contribute to its successful establishment. We aimed to study the presence and dissemination of sasX in clinical MRSA isolates and among MRSA carriers. A total of 450 nonduplicate clinical MRSA isolates recovered from blood cultures between 2013 and 2017 were included in this study.
