Recent insights into ferroptosis, a unique form of iron‑dependent cell death characterized by lipid peroxidation and antioxidant system failures, open new avenues for understanding the neurobiological foundation of schizophrenia. The present review explores the interplay between ferroptosis and schizophrenia, emphasizing the potential contributions of disrupted iron homeostasis and oxidative mechanisms to the pathology and progression of this disease.

In biological systems, nanobubbles (NBs) effectively enhance hydrogen molecule retention and scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. To investigate this, we prepared hydrogen NB water samples with consistent dissolved hydrogen levels but varying NB densities to explore their physicochemical properties and effects on green algae (Chlorella vulgaris) under oxidative stress induced by copper ions (Cu) and cadmium ions (Cd). The results indicated a strong correlation between the hydrogen NB number density and the 25 % inhibitory concentration of Cu over 24 h, with ROS removal efficiency increased with the NB number density.

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) have the capacity to migrate to tumor sites and transmit paracrine signals by secreting extracellular vesicles (EVs) to regulate tumor biological behaviors. MSC-derived EVs (MSC-EVs) have similar tumor tropism and pro- or anti-tumorigenesis as their parental cells and exhibit superior properties in drug delivery. MSC-EVs can transfer microRNAs (miRNAs) to tumor cells, thereby manipulating multiple key cancer-related pathways, and further playing a vital role in the tumor growth, metastasis, drug resistance and other aspects.

The hydrogen molecule can effectively regulate plant growth and development, improving plant resistance to abiotic stresses. The protein (LP) is a high-quality protein known for its well-balanced amino acid composition. In this study, we developed three-dimensional (3D)-printed microwaveable food using a combination of LP and potato flour, and optimized the formulation to achieve a ratio of LP: potato flour: xanthan gum: water = 2:8:1:23. The 3D-printed samples exhibited better shape, weight, and size compared to the molded samples after microwave treatment, with the most favorable microwave effect observed at a 90% filling ratio.
