Neuroinflammation induced by activation of microglial is a vital contributor to progression of Parkinson's disease (PD), emerging evidences suggested that ferroptosis played a pivotal role in microglial activation and subsequent dopaminergic neuron loss. Nevertheless, the fundamental pathogenesis of that ferroptosis contributes to PD is not yet sufficiently understood. Based on GEO dataset, ferroptosis related genes were found to be enriched in PD patients and MPTP mouse model of PD, among them, ATF4 was found to be dramatically differentially expressed.

Traditional magnetic sub-Kelvin cooling relies on the nearly free local moments in hydrate paramagnetic salts, whose utility is hampered by the dilute magnetic ions and low thermal conductivity. Here we propose to use instead fractional excitations inherent to quantum spin liquids (QSLs) as an alternative, which are sensitive to external fields and can induce a very distinctive magnetocaloric effect. With state-of-the-art tensor-network approach, we compute low-temperature properties of Kitaev honeycomb model.

Hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) biosensors based on metals have superior performance in comparison with conventional plasmonic biosensors in the detection of low concentrations of molecules. In this study, a nanorod HMM (NHMM) biosensor based on refractive index changes for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) detection is developed using secondary antibody modified gold nanoparticle (AuNP-Ab) nanocomposites as signal amplification element for the first time. A novel method is proposed based on the improved YOLOV5 and feeding functional area proposals to identify the feeding behaviors of nursery piglets in a complex light and different posture environment. The method consists of three steps: first, the corner coordinates of the feeding functional area were set up by using the shape characteristics of the trough proposals and the ratio of the corner point to the image width and height to separate the irregular feeding area; second, a transformer module model was introduced based on YOLOV5 for highly accurate head detection; and third, the feeding behavior was recognized and counted by calculating the proportion of the head in the located feeding area. The pig head dataset was constructed, including 5040 training sets with 54,670 piglet head boxes, and 1200 test sets, and 25,330 piglet head boxes.

With the increasing emphasis on atmospheric environmental protection, it is crucial to find an efficient, direct, and accurate method to identify pollutant species in the atmosphere. To solve this problem, we designed and prepared the cascade multicavity (CMC) structure composed with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate with favorable light transmittance and flexibility. The multicavity structure distributed on the surface introducing the homogeneous connecting holes endows the structure to more fully utilize the incident light while slowing the gas movement rate.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an essential long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid that exhibits potent anti-inflammatory properties in the acute phase of ischemic stroke, but its effect on microglia polarization is unknown.
