Article Synopsis
  • Antisperm antibodies in infertile women are linked to reduced fertility and have a strong effect on sperm immobilization.
  • mrt-CD52, an antigen found in sperm and seminal plasma, may interfere with the classical complement pathway that normally attacks sperm.
  • The study shows that mrt-CD52 can bind to the C1q molecule of the complement system, indicating that it may help protect sperm from damage caused by antisperm antibodies in the female reproductive tract.
