To date, Cancer remains a global threat due to its impact on growing life expectancy. With the many efforts and methods of combating the disease, complete success remains a challenge owing to several limitations including cancer cells developing resistance through mutations, off-target effect of some cancer drugs resulting in toxicities, among many others. Aberrant DNA methylation is understood to be the primary reason for improper gene silence, which can result in neoplastic transformation, carcinogenesis, and tumour progression.
