The effectiveness of mammography in women with dense breasts is compromised by a high rate of false-negative results. While supplemental ultrasound increases sensitivity, its low positive predictive value (PPV) leads to more unnecessary biopsies. This study aims to develop a nomogram model to predict the malignancy of breast masses that are additionally identified as suspicious by supplemental ultrasound after an initial negative screening mammography.

The separation of xylene isomers is a critical and energy-intensive process in the petrochemical industry, primarily due to their closely similar molecular structures and boiling points. In this work, we report the synthesis and application of a novel core-shell zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) composite, ZIF-65@ZIF-67, designed to significantly enhance the kinetic separation of xylene isomers through a synergistic "shell-gated diffusion and core-facilitated transport" strategy. The external ZIF-67 shell selectively restricts the diffusion of larger isomers (MX and OX), while the internal ZIF-65 core accelerates the diffusion of PX, thereby amplifying the diffusion differences among the isomers.

In 2001, Tang's team discovered a unique type of luminogens with substantial enhanced fluorescence upon aggregation and introduced the concept of "aggregation-induced emission (AIE)". Unlike conventional fluorescent materials, AIE luminogens (AIEgens) emit weak or no fluorescence in solution but become highly fluorescent in aggregated or solid states, due to a mechanism known as restriction of intramolecular motions (RIM). Initially considered a purely inorganic chemical phenomenon, AIE was later applied in biomedicine to improve the sensitivity of immunoassays.

Organoids-on-a-chip exhibit significant potential for advancing disease modeling, drug screening, and precision medicine, largely due to their capacity to facilitate interactions among organoids. However, the influence of chip design on these interactions remains poorly understood, primarily due to our limited knowledge of the mediators of communication and the complexity of interaction dynamics. This study demonstrates that analyzing albumin secretion from liver organoids within an organoids-on-a-chip system can provide a measure of the interaction intensity among organoids, offering valuable insights into how chip design influences these interactions.

The development of efficient photocatalysts inspired by natural photosynthesis has drawn considerable interest for sustainable hydrogen (H) production. Among the various strategies for enhancing H evolution, constructing step-scheme (S-scheme) heterojunctions has attracted extensive interest, thanks to their limited charge recombination and enhanced charge transport in comparison to the traditional photocatalytic systems. Herein, we report the engineering of a novel S-scheme heterojunction by integrating ultrathin ZnInS (ZIS) nanosheets with MOF-derived N-doped NiO porous microrods (ZIS/N-NiO) toward superior photocatalytic behaviors.

The field of traffic forecasting has been the subject of considerable attention as a critical component in alleviating traffic congestion and improving urban services. Given the regular patterns of human activities, it is evident that traffic flow is inherently periodic. However, most of existing studies restrict themselves to recent historical observations and typically yield structurally and computationally complex models, which greatly limits the forecasting accuracy and hinders the application of models in realistic situations.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease, which is mainly characterized by the abnormal deposition of β-amyloid peptide (Aβ) and Tau. Since Tau aggregation is more closely associated with synaptic loss, neurodegeneration, and cognitive decline than Aβ, the correlation between Tau and cognitive function in AD has gradually gained attention. The posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of Tau are key factors contributing to its pathological changes, which include phosphorylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, glycosylation, glycation, small ubiquitin-like modifier mediated modification (SUMOylation), methylation, succinylation, etc.
