Ferroptosis contributes to neuronal destruction after ischemic stroke which may be improved by inhibiting BTB domain and CNC homologue 1 (BACH1), a recently recognized ferroptosis facilitator. Axon guidance molecule netrin-1 (Ntn1) functions in neuroprotection against ischemic insult by engaging into its receptor of uncoordinated-5 homolog B (UNC5b) via adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which potentially binds to BACH1. Whether Ntn1/UNC5b regulates post-stroke ferroptosis through AMPK-BACH1 pathway remains unclear.

The long-term fixation of mineral pigments in ancient paintings has always been a challenge. Gelatin alum solution (GAW), as a traditional pigment fixative, presents good pigment fixation in the early stage of use, but its poor durability is well known. In this work, a microgel (SH) prepared from sodium alginate and hydroxyethyl cellulose was proposed to replace GAW for the pigment fixation due to its micro scale, strong adhesion, and good chemical stability.

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are considered to be competitive next-generation electrochemical energy storage devices, but their practical application is severely hampered by the shuttle effect and slow redox kinetics of soluble lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). To address this challenge, FeS encapsulated within N/S co-doped bamboo-like carbon nanotubes (FeS/NSC) is synthesized via a pyrolysis sulfidation process, and act as a coating separator for LSBs. The 1-dimensional (1D) S and N co-doped carbon substrate materials can act as conductive networks, exposing more adsorption sites and enhancing the capture of LiPSs.

Sensory neurons play an essential role in recognizing and responding to detrimental, irritating, and inflammatory stimuli from our surroundings, such as pain, itch, cough, and neurogenic inflammation. The transduction of these physiological signals is chiefly mediated by G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ion channels. The binding of ligands to GPCRs triggers a signaling cascade, recruiting G proteins or β-arrestins, which subsequently interact with ion channels (e.

Background: Mogroside V (MV) is a triterpene glucoside that reportedly exhibits an array of antitumor, anti-inflammatory, hypolipidemic, and hypoglycemic properties. In prior studies, our group determined that MV was able to readily enhance osteogenic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) differentiation under high-glucose conditions through mechanisms potentially associated with miR-10b-5p and PI3K/Akt signaling activity. The precise molecular basis for these effects, however, remains to be fully elucidated.
