Background: Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune thyroid disease, shows high morbidity worldwide, particularly in female. Patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis have an increasing risk of hypothyroidism during the occurrence and progression of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In recent years, metabolomics has been widely applied in autoimmune diseases, especially thyroid disorders.

However, not all plant-based foods are beneficial, and limited data exist for the Chinese population. We investigated the association between different plant-based dietary indices and the risk of dyslipidemia in a Chinese middle-aged and elderly population.

The paper identified the correlation of WCS permeability versus porosity, cementation structure, and mineral composition, further developing a model to characterize the WCS stress-damage-permeability relationship. The research indicated that the WCS permeability was initially high due to the naturally high porosity, large pore diameter, and loose particle cementation, thus favoring a significant decline as pore convergence in the compaction stage.

Urban spatial identity is declining in Chinese cities overall due to urbanization, which is attracting increasing attention from the government. Research gaps include systematically comparing urban identities based on causes and manifestations in small cities. We developed a framework for estimating spatial identity from the perspective of climate adaptation, which is based on the relationship between regional climate and spatial form.

Severe neurological symptoms are associated with Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, the morphologic features, pathological nature and their potential mechanisms in patient brains have not been revealed despite evidence of neurotropic infection. In this study, neuropathological damages and infiltrating inflammatory cells were quantitatively evaluated by immunohistochemical staining, ultrastructural examination under electron microscopy, and an image threshold method, in postmortem brains from nine critically ill COVID-19 patients and nine age-matched cadavers of healthy individuals.

Accurate and comprehensive knowledge of the atmospheric environment and its evolution within the coastal ocean boundary layer are necessary for understanding the sources, chemical mechanisms, and transport processes of air pollution in land, sea, and atmosphere. We present an overview of coastal ocean boundary layer detection technology and equipment in China and summarize the progress and main achievements in recent years. China has developed a series of coastal ocean boundary layer detection technologies, including Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR), turbulent exchange analyzer, air-sea flux analyzer, stereoscopic remote sensing of air pollutants, and oceanic aerosol detection equipment to address the technical bottleneck caused by harsh environmental conditions in coastal ocean regions.

Methods: Acute ischemic stroke patients caused by anterior circulation large vessel occlusion without recanalization were retrospectively collected. All patients were divided into the functional independent group and non-functional independent group, death group and non-death group based on the 90-day mRS score.
Acetalization and deacetalation are a pair of routine manipulations to protect and deprotect the 4- and 6-hydroxyl groups of glycosides in the synthesis of glycosyl building blocks. In this study, we found that treatment of SnCl with various carbohydrates containing acetal/ketal groups with the assistance of water in CHCl led to deacetalization/deketalization products in almost quantitative yields. In addition, for substrates containing both acetal/ketal and -methoxylbenzyl groups, we also found that the -methoxylbenzyl group was selectively cleaved by the use of a catalytic amount of SnCl, while the acetal/ketal groups remained.

However, little is known about Dof in Camelina sativa, an important oil crop worldwide, with high stress tolerance. In this study, a genome-wide characterization of Dof proteins is performed to examine their basic structural characteristics, phylogenetics, expression patterns, and functions to identify the regulatory mechanism underlying lipid/oil accumulation and the candidate Dofs mediating stress resistance regulation in C.

To advance knowledge along this front, we examined the reactivity of pipemidic acid (PIP), a typical quinolone antibiotic, with quartz particles coated with a mixture of manganese oxide (MnO) and goethite (α-FeOOH) under static and dynamic flow conditions. Batch and dynamic column experiments showed that PIP binding to MnO proceeded through a heterogeneous redox reaction, while binding to goethite was not redox-reactive.

Isoschaftoside is a C-glycosyl flavonoid extracted from the root exudates of and . Previous studies suggested that C-glycosyl flavonoid has neuroprotective effects with the property of reducing oxidative stress and inflammatory markers. Microglia are key cellular mediators of neuroinflammation in the central nervous system.

With rapid worldwide spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), jointly identifying severe COVID-19 cases from mild ones and predicting the conversion time (from mild to severe) is essential to optimize the workflow and reduce the clinician's workload. In this study, we propose a novel framework for COVID-19 diagnosis, termed as Structural Attention Graph Neural Network (SAGNN), which can combine the multi-source information including features extracted from chest CT, latent lung structural distribution, and non-imaging patient information to conduct diagnosis of COVID-19 severity and predict the conversion time from mild to severe. Specifically, we first construct a graph to incorporate structural information of the lung and adopt graph attention network to iteratively update representations of lung segments.

This study evaluated the effectiveness of a brief mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) named "STOP (Stop, Take a Breath, Observe, Proceed) touching your face" for reducing face-touching behavior.
Methods: In this online-based, two-arm, wait-list, randomized controlled trial, eligible participants were randomly assigned to the intervention ( = 545) or control group ( = 545).
Seed germination and stand establishment are the first steps of crop growth and development. However, low seed vigor, improper seedbed preparation, unfavorable climate, and the occurrence of pests and diseases reduces the germination rate and seedling quality, resulting in insufficient crop populations and undesirable plant growth. Seed coating is an effective method that is being developed and applied in modern agriculture.

The rapid promotion of single-cell omics in various fields has begun to help solve many problems encountered in research, including precision medicine, prenatal diagnosis, and embryo development. Meanwhile, single-cell techniques are also constantly updated with increasing demand. For some specific target cells, the workflow from droplet screening to single-cell sequencing is a preferred option and should reduce the impact of operation steps, such as demulsification and cell recovery.

Background: Waist circumference (WC), visceral adiposity index (VAI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), and Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) are considered surrogate indicators of abdominal fat deposition, but the longitudinal association of these indices with cardiovascular (CV) events in adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D) remains unclear. Our study aimed to examine the associations between abdominal obesity indices and incident CV events among people with T2D and to compare their predictive performance in risk assessment.
Methods: The present study included 2328 individuals with T2D from the Xinjiang Multi-Ethnic Cohort.
