Methods: Forty-five female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided for two times. The first time, they were randomly divided into model group and blank group (Group C) according to 2:1, and the second time, the model group were randomly divided into model control group (Group B) and intervention treatment group (Group A) according to 1:1.

CHOROIDAL THICKNESS IN RELATION TO ETHNICITY MEASURED USING ENHANCED DEPTH IMAGING OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY.

Purpose: To investigate the posterior choroidal thickness in healthy subjects of three different ethnicities.

Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, the choroidal thickness of 88 individuals (176 eyes) was measured using enhanced depth imaging-spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Subfoveal choroidal thickness was measured between the retinal pigment epithelium-Bruch membrane complex and chorioscleral interface.

Detection of underdiagnosed concurrent branch retinal artery occlusion in a patient with central retinal vein occlusion using spectral domain optical coherence tomography.

Background: Combined branch retinal artery and central retinal vein occlusion is a rare condition that has been infrequently reported. This case report, aside from reporting the above-mentioned condition, highlights the importance of performing spectral domain optical coherence tomography in establishing a complete diagnosis, especially in uncertain and complicated cases. We also present spectral domain optical coherence tomography findings of a case of combined unilateral simultaneous central retinal vein and branch retinal artery occlusion.

Vitreous amyloidosis in two large mainland Chinese kindreds resulting from transthyretin variant Lys35Thr and Leu55Arg.

Objective: To describe the clinical and pathological findings of two large mainland Chinese kindreds with vitreous amyloidosis and associated transthyretin mutation.

Methods: Twenty individuals from two kindreds with vitreous amyloidosis were ascertained. The transtheretin (TTR) gene of each individual was analyzed, and a clinical examination was obtained on the index patient.

A gene signature-based approach identifies mTOR as a regulator of p73.

Although genomic technologies have advanced the characterization of gene regulatory networks downstream of transcription factors, the identification of pathways upstream of these transcription factors has been more challenging. In this study we present a gene signature-based approach for connecting signaling pathways to transcription factors, as exemplified by p73. We generated a p73 gene signature by integrating whole-genome chromatin immunoprecipitation and expression profiling.

Loss of p63 leads to increased cell migration and up-regulation of genes involved in invasion and metastasis.

p63, a homologue of the tumor suppressor p53, is critical for the development and maintenance of squamous epithelia. p63 is specifically expressed in the basal layers of stratified epithelial tissues and is considered a specific marker for cells of this type. The role of p63 in tumorigenesis remains poorly defined.

Interaction of human NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) with the tumor suppressor protein p53 in cells and cell-free systems.

NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) has been proposed to stabilize p53 via a redox mechanism involving oxidation of NAD(P)H as a consequence of the catalytic activity of NQO1. We report that treatment of HCT-116 human colon carcinoma cells with the NQO1 inhibitor ES936 had no effect on the levels of p53 protein. ES936 is a mechanism-based inhibitor of NQO1 that irreversibly blocks the catalytic function of the enzyme.
