Purpose: To explore the prognostic value of pretreatment Geriatric Nutrition Risk Index (GNRI) in lung cancer patients.
Methods: The PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science electronic databases were searched up to October 5, 2021 for relevant studies. The primary and second outcomes were the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) and the hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were combined to assess the association between GNRI and prognosis of lung cancer patients.
An adsorbent-magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers nanoparticles (MMIPs NPs) were synthesized for the extraction of 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) using FeO as magnetic core. The MIPs were prepared with methacrylic acid and sodium p-styrene sulfonate as bifunctional monomers. The adsorbents were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer, thermogravimetric analysis and vibrating sample magnetometer.

In our rat skin-nerve preparation ex vivo, recording from all classes of sensory single-fibers (n = 32), 30 units were transiently excited by formaldehyde concentrations 1-100 mM applied to receptive fields (RFs) for 3 min, C and Aδ-fibers being more sensitive (1-30 mM) than Aβ-fibers. From 30 mM on, ~1% of the concentration usually injected in vivo, all RFs were defunctionalized and conduction in an isolated sciatic nerve preparation was irreversibly blocked.

This study designed vitexin loaded bilayer nanoparticles by the assembly of soybean peptides and the coating of goblet cell targeting peptide CSKSSDYQC (CSK) coupled N-trimethyl chitosan (TMC), to improve the bioavailability of vitexin.

Wearable electronic systems require a material that is strong to ensure durability and stability, and a wide range of strain to expand their applications. However, it is still challenging to manufacture fibrous materials with simultaneously high mechanical strength and the tensile property.

Of interest, trimethylation of lysine 4 on histone 3 (H3K4me3) exhibits a unique and dynamic landscape with a potential species-specific feature. Here, we address how it is reprogrammed and its functional significance during oocyte maturation and early embryonic development in cows.

However, there is little detailed long-term evidence of its associations with PM among children. We examined the community-level associations between exposure to ambient PM and incident influenza in Guangzhou, China.

However, the relationship between airway dissemination and early lung adenocarcinoma is not clear. Therefore, this study uses meta-analysis to study the long-term prognosis of patients with early lung adenocarcinoma.

Leptin is a multifunctional hormone that serves as a feeding regulator in mammals. However, the effect of leptin on fish remains unclear. We sequenced the leptin gene from gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio) and designated it gLEP.

A novel chitosan-poly (ethylene glycol)-hydrocaffeic acid (CS-PEG-HA) hybrid hydrogel was fabricated, with a four-fold improvement in the mechanical performance as compared to the pure chitosan hydrogel, while enhancing the mucoadhesiveness and hemostasis properties. The in vivo studies on the CS-PEG-HA hydrogel demonstrated that liver bleeding could be rapidly repaired because of the outstanding adhesion and hemostasis characteristics of the developed hydrogel.

Methods: A total of 62 patients treated for single-segment lumbar degenerative disease from October 2010 to November 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent decompression of the spinal canal with Dynesys dynamic fixation and were divided into two groups.
In routine surveillance for avian influenza viruses (AIVs) in the environments of live poultry markets (LPMs), certain samples were positive for AIVs type A while negative for subtypes (e.g., H5, H7, and H9).

Background: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) for patients with type 2 diabetes and detect the correlations with electrophysiology.
Methods: A total of 27 patients with type 2 diabetes with DPN, 24 patients with type 2 diabetes without peripheral neuropathy (NDPN), as well as 32 healthy controls (HC) were enrolled in this study. Clinical examinations and neurophysiologic tests were used to determine the presence of DPN.
Background: The first community transmission of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Delta variant of concern (VOC) in Guangzhou, China occurred between May and June 2021. Herein, we describe the epidemiological characteristics of this outbreak and evaluate the implemented containment measures against this outbreak.
Methodology/principal Findings: Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention provided the data on SARS-CoV-2 infections reported between 21 May and 24 June 2021.
Objective: Recurrent lumbar disc herniation (RLDH) is the most common cause of sciatica after primary discectomy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of transpedicular dynamic stabilization (TDS) combined with limited rediscectomy in the treatment of single-level RLDH.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated a consecutive series of 24 middle-aged patients who underwent TDS (Dynesys system) combined with limited rediscectomy (i.
Cisplatin (DDP)-based chemotherapy is a preferred treatment for a broad spectrum of cancers, but the precise mechanisms of its hepatotoxicity are not yet clear. Recently, the role of voltage-dependent anion channel protein 1 (VDAC1) in mitochondrial activity and cell apoptosis has attracted much attention. Our aim was to investigate the effects of mitochondrial outer membrane protein VDAC1 oligomerization in DDP-induced hepatocyte apoptosis.

The current study was set to explore the feasibility of using 40 Hz light flicker for human brain stimulation for future development as a tool for brain disease treatment. The effect of 40 Hz low gamma frequency light on a cohort of healthy human brains was examined using 64 channel electroencephalography (EEG), followed by microstate analyses.
