Microorganisms have important roles in the bioremediation of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) in farmland soils. However, the majority of functional microorganisms (>99%) are yet to be cultivated. In this study, magnetic nanoparticle-mediated isolation (MMI) coupled with high-throughput sequencing was applied to identify the microorganisms responsible for chlorpyrifos (CPF) degradation in farmland soils.

This study isolated a cultivable pyrene degrader (Sphingomonas sp. YT1005) and an active pyrene degrading consortium (Gp16, Streptomyces, Pseudonocardia, Panacagrimonas, Methylotenera and Nitrospira) by magnetic-nanoparticle mediated isolation (MMI) from soils.

Photolysis has been established as an effective method to degrade OPs. The influence of pH value, the initial concentration of pesticides and the light source on the photolysis of two OPs, including chlorpyrifos and dimethoate, was investigated.

It has attracted increasing attention but the underlying influential factors affecting DNA damage response are still unclear. In this work, isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ)-based proteomic analysis was used to investigate the influence of carbon sources on the translational response of ADP1 to DNA damage.

Six bacterial strains were identified, including Brevundimonas faecalis MA-B12 and Alcaligenes faecalis subsp. parafaecalis MA-B13 for methamidophos degradation, Citrobacter freundii TF-B21 and Ochrobactrum intermedium TF-B23 for trichlorfon degradation, Ochrobactrum intermedium DV-B31 for dichlorvos degradation, and Bacillus cereus for dimethoate degradation.

Nanotechnology is an emerging technique drawing increasing attentions in biomedical, electronic, environmental, and industrial application. Nanoparticles (NPs) possess unique optical, electrical, catalytic, and thermal properties, among which magnetic NPs (MNPs) are one of the most important groups with excellent superparamagnetism property, large surface area, and biocompatibility. In this review, methods for synthesizing and functionalizing MNPs are summarized and linked to their applications in environmental science as either adsorbents or catalysts for removing contaminants from environmental matrices, illustrating stronger reactivity, higher removal capacity, and fast kinetics.

In this study, steel slag, a waste from steel manufacturing, was studied as a low-cost adsorbent for HPAM in wastewater. Optimisation of HPAM adsorption by steel slag was performed with a central composite design under response surface methodology (RSM).
