The results of the analysis of the present epidemiological situation in diphtheria in the Maritime Territory are presented. The data on absolute and intensive characteristics, death rate due to this infection, the vaccination status of diphtheria patients, as well as the results of the study of the level and intensity of antidiphtheria immunity in the healthy population of the territory. The study revealed that the defects of collective antidiphtheria immunity correlated with morbidity rate among adults and children.

The state of collective immunity to diphtheria in children and adolescents of Vladivostok was studied. Adsorbed DPT vaccine was shown to have higher immunological effectiveness in comparison with adsorbed DT toxoid with reduced antigen content. As revealed in this study, as early as in 2 years a part of the children lost their immunity, irrespective of the preparation used for vaccination, and enlarged the reserve of initially seronegative children and adolescents, capable of maintaining the epidemic process of diphtheria.
