Electrical Conduction Mechanisms in Ethyl Cellulose Films under DC and AC Electric Fields.

This work reports the dielectric behavior of the biopolymer ethyl cellulose (EC) observed from transient currents experiments under the action of a direct current (DC) electric field (~10 V/m) under vacuum conditions. The viscoelastic response of the EC was evaluated using dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), observing a mechanical relaxation related to glass transition of around ~402 K. Furthermore, we propose a mathematical framework that describes the transient current in EC using a fractional differential equation, whose solution involves the Mittag-Leffler function.

Thermomechanical Characterization and Modeling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloy Coil Spring.

Today, shape memory alloys (SMAs) have important applications in several fields of science and engineering. This work reports the thermomechanical behavior of NiTi SMA coil springs. The thermomechanical characterization is approached starting from mechanical loading-unloading tests under different electric current intensities, from 0 to 2.

[Findings in brainstem auditory evoked potentials in patients under 2 years of age with a history of intraventricular haemorrhage].

Introduction: There are few studies that describe the results of auditory pathway assessment in patients with a history of intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) during the early years of life. Hypoacusis can occur from the earliest stages of IVH. Brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs) are a useful tool for diagnosing auditory pathway disorders in early childhood.

Chronic viral hepatitis C micro-elimination program using telemedicine. The Mexican experience.

Background: hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a global health problem. Chronic infection induces the development of fibrosis and cirrhosis together with all the related complications. The use of direct-acting antiviral (DAA) drugs has proven highly effective.

Pirfenidone vs. sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose as prevention of the formation of intra-abdominal adhesions after colonic surgery. A randomized study in an experimental model.

Introduction: Up to 93% of patients undergoing abdominal surgery will develop intra-abdominal adhesions with the subsequent morbidity that they represent. Various substances have been tested for the prevention of adhesions with controversial results; the aim of our study is to compare the capability of pirfenidone in adhesion prevention against sodium hyaluronate/carboxymethylcellulose.

[Experience with Clotteau-Prémont's technique in abdominal wall hernias. Preliminary report].

Background: Incisional hernias account for at least a third of abdominal wall hernias. There are different techniques of repair that include the use of prosthetic materials, which has lowered the hernia recurrence rate. Nonetheless, its use in case of rejection or infection requires other techniques with local tissue.

Brucellosis in Mexico: current status and trends.

Traditionally, Mexico has been recognized as endemic with brucellosis. The improvements in diagnostics techniques and vaccination strategies and the enforcement of a national eradication policy have contributed significantly to making progress in the control of brucellosis. The current status of brucellosis and its risk factors, in the different production species as well as in human population is reviewed.

Background: The biliary hamartoma is a rare hepatic lesion described for the first time in 1918 by Von Meyenburg. It is consistent with biliary duct deformity and disorganization, forming cystic structures varying in sizes.
