Obesity is a known risk factor for many chronic diseases and a substantial threat to public health. We investigated the effects of figs sourced from on a high fat-fed experimental rat model. We found that a 500-mg dose of ethanolic extract of figs (EFH) reduced oxidative stress markers nitric oxide (NO), malondialdehyde (MDA), and advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), which were increased in high fat-fed rats.
