Introduction: the article discusses the effect of the complex of active mineral additives consisting of silica and fly ash, and a fine aggregate, including finely ground natural-white quartz sand for partial replacement of river sand, on the mechanical properties of high-strength concrete containing steel fiber.
Materials And Methods: high-strength concrete containing Dramix3D 65/35 steel fiber in the amount of 100 kg per 1 m of concrete mixture was suggested where 22% to 100% of river sand was replaced by finely ground white natural sand of the particle size of 5 to 1800 μm and containing the complex of active mineral additives for partial replacement of cement as part of a multicomponent binder, consisting of low-calcium fly ash of thermal power plants and silica and containing, respectively, 20, 30, 40% fly ash and from 5 to 15% silica by weight of the binder.
Results: research results have shown that 100% replacement of river sand with finely ground natural white sand, in concrete containing 20% of the mass as part of a multicomponent binder, fly ash and from 5 to 15% by weight of silica, contributes to the increase of its strength properties: the values of concrete compressive strength after 28 days were in the range from 118.
The study was aimed at determining the changes of metal-containing proteins in blood serum and tumor tissue of animals with parental and doxorubicin-resistant strains of Walker-256 carcinosarcoma before and after the cytostatic administration. It has been shown that upon doxorubicin action the levels of total iron and transferrin in the tissues from the both groups of animals decreased while that of ferritine simultaneously increased with more pronounced pattern in the group of animals with resistant tumor strain. It has been shown that upon the action of doxorubicin in tumor tissue of animals with different sensitivity to the cytostatic there could be observed oppositely directed changes in the redox state of these cells that in turn determined the content of “ free iron” complexes, RO S generation and concentration of active forms of matrix metaloproteinase- 2 and matrix metaloproteinase-9, namely, the increase of these indexes in animals with parental strain and their decrease in animals with the resistant one.

The development of resistance of cancer cells to therapeutic agents is the major obstacle in the successful treatment of breast cancer and the main cause of breast cancer recurrence. The results of several studies have demonstrated an important role of altered cellular iron metabolism in the progression of breast cancer and suggested that iron metabolism may be involved in the acquisition of a cancer cell drug-resistant phenotype. In the present study, we show that human MCF-7 breast cancer cells with an acquired resistance to the chemotherapeutic drugs doxorubicin (MCF-7/DOX) and cisplatin (MCF-7/CDDP) exhibited substantial alterations in the intracellular iron content and levels of iron-regulatory proteins involved in the cellular uptake, storage and export of iron, especially in profoundly increased levels of ferritin light chain (FTL) protein.

Compounds were injected into aseptic fertilized eggs. After incubation for 24 days, foci of altered hepatocytes (FAH), some with a pseudoglandular structure and/or signs of compression of the surrounding tissue were observed in the fetal liver.

The successful treatment of cancer requires a clear understanding of multiple interacting factors involved in the development of drug resistance. Presently, two hypotheses, genetic and epigenetic, have been proposed to explain mechanisms of acquired cancer drug resistance. In the present study, we examined the alterations in epigenetic mechanisms in the drug-resistant MCF-7 human breast cancer cells induced by doxorubicin (DOX) and cisplatin (cisDDP), two chemotherapeutic drugs with different modes of action.
