Unlabelled: Hyperandrogenism is a determining diagnostic factor for PCOS. If pregnancy is conceived, it is considered high-risk due to several potential complications, but the correlation between pre-pregnancy androgen levels and obstetric outcomes is poorly characterized.

Objective: To determine if pre-pregnancy serum androgen concentrations and androgen indexes differed when certain obstetric and neonatal outcomes appeared in PCOS.

Colon cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Recovery of the Decreased Phagocytic Function of Peripheral Monocytes and Neutrophil Granulocytes following Cytoreductive Surgery in Advanced Stage Epithelial Ovarian Cancer.

(1) Monocytes and neutrophil granulocytes are the phagocytic cells of the innate immune system, playing a crucial role in recognizing and eliminating tumor-transformed cells. Our objective was to assess the impact of advanced-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and cytoreductive surgery on the phagocytic function of peripheral monocytes and neutrophil granulocytes. We aimed to compare the pre- and postoperative phagocytic function of these immune cells in EOC patients with healthy control women.

The pathophysiology of the disease is still not clarified, but the insufficient immune surveillance plays a significant role in it. The phagocyte function of innate immune cells may play a role in the elimination of ectopic endometrium.

Investigating the Scientific 'Infodemic' Phenomenon Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Objectives: The study aims at understanding the structural characteristics and content features of COVID-19 literature and public health data from the perspective of the 'Language and Meaning in Biomedicine' Working Group (LaMB WG) of IMIA. The LaMB WG has interest in conceptual characteristics, transparency, comparability, and reusability of medical information, both in science and practice.

Methods: A set of methods were used (i) investigating the overall speed and dynamics of COVID-19 publications; (ii) characterizing the concepts of COVID-19 (text mining, visualizing a semantic map of related concepts); (iii) assessing (re)usability and combinability of data sets and paper collections (as textual data sets), and checking if information is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).

Introduction: Endometriosis is a chronic systemic disease, which influence negatively the quality of life of affected women and responsible for infertility and chronic pelvic pain. Pathophysiology of the disease is still enigmatic, but insufficient immune surveillance may play a role in it. Peripheral natural immune cell function is rarely examined.

Introduction: Recently, tumor-infiltrating immune cells have been studied in various cancers. However, fewer studies address the role of peripheral immune cells in the pathogenesis of cancer.

Aim: Our aim was to investigate whether the phagocytic activity of peripheral monocytes and neutrophil granulocytes is affected by the removal of tumor in advanced ovarian cancer.

Comparison of Predictive Immunohistochemical Marker Expression of Primary Breast Cancer and Paired Distant Metastasis using Surgical Material: A Practice-Based Study.

Parallel studies of primary breast carcinomas and corresponding distant metastases samples reveal considerable differences. Our aim was to highlight this issue from another perspective and provide further data based on 98 patient samples: 69 primary breast carcinoma and 85 distant metastases from bone, central nervous system (CNS) and lung (56 paired). Two independent series of immunohistochemical reactions with different antibodies for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PgR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her2), along with HER2 fluroscence in situ hybridization (FISH) were performed on tissue microarrays to classify breast carcinoma and distant metastases samples into Luminal A, Luminal B-proliferating, Luminal B-HER2+, HER2+ and triple negative (TNBC) surrogate breast cancer groups.

Expression of proliferation markers Ki67, cyclin A, geminin and aurora-kinase A in primary breast carcinomas and corresponding distant metastases.

Aims: To assess the expression of the following cell cycle regulatory proteins in primary metastatic breast carcinomas (MBCs) and on availability in matched distant metastases (DMs): Ki67, cyclin A, geminin and aurora-kinase A (aurkA); and to compare the expression of these markers in early MBC (EMBC) and late MBC separated into groups according to median time point on metastatic event occurred (28 months).

Methods: The expression of the above mentioned markers was analysed in a total of 47 primary MBCs and 59 DMs (out of which 37 were pairs) by immunohistochemistry. Fourteen breast carcinomas with no relapse over a 10-year follow-up period were utilised as control cases (CBC).

Objectives: The aim of the study was to clinically and histologically evaluate the healing of human intrabony defects treated with open flap surgery (OFD) and application of a new, resorbable, fully synthetic, unsintered, nanocrystalline, phase-pure hydroxyapatite (nano-HA).

Materials And Methods: Six patients, each of them displaying very advanced intrabony defects around teeth scheduled for extraction due to advanced chronic periodontitis and further prosthodontic considerations, were included in the study. We have previously reported the in vitro anti-proliferative effect of 4-thio-uridylate (s(4)UMP) on OCM-1 uveal melanoma cells. Here, we assessed the efficacy of s(4)UMP on JY cells. Treatment of JY cells with s(4)UMP suppressed their colony forming activity and induced apoptosis; healthy human bone marrow granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells were 14-fold less sensitive to the nucleotide.

For at least partial replacement of the lost dermal layer, there are several options to use biotechnologically derived extracellular matrix components or tissue scaffolds of cadaver skin origin. In a survey, we have collected data on 18 pts who have previously received acellular dermal implant Alloderm.

Prognostic significance of claudin expression changes in breast cancer with regional lymph node metastasis.

Percutaneous endovascular treatment of innominate artery lesions: a single-centre experience on 77 lesions.

Purpose: To assess primary success and safety of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and/or stenting of innominate artery lesions and to compare its 30-day stroke/mortality level with the literature data.

Methods: A total of 72 patients (77 stenoses, five recurrent, 58 symptomatic and 39 female) with seven innominate vessel occlusions, nine subocclusive lesions and 61 significant (>60%) stenoses of innominate artery treated between 2000 and 2009 were retrospectively reviewed. With the exception of seven, all procedures were performed using a transfemoral approach.

A brief historical review of flaps and burn reconstruction.

 Thermal, chemical, and electrical injuries contribute to some of the most disabling and deforming wound injury patterns. These challenges, ultimately cared for by burn and reconstructive specialists, require an evolution in the understanding of functional and aesthetic prioritization, 3-dimensional geometric rearrangement of tissues, anatomic considerations of neurovascularized constructs, as well as the development of fundamental technical skills. Flaps, generally defined as tissue constructs, transferred along with a defined vascular supply are considered principle elements in the armamentarium of the reconstructive specialist.

Aims And Background: The mortality of colorectal cancer continues to stagnate despite the development of new therapeutic approaches. Therefore, identifying high-risk population groups could contribute to the prevention of a considerable part of deaths caused by colorectal tumors.

Methods: Fifty patients with colon cancer and 50 patients with other, nonmalignant diseases were selected for the study.

Improvement of air tightness of stapled lung parenchyma using fascia lata.

Postoperative air leakage, a seemingly minor complication following procedures on emphysaematosus lung parenchyma can lead to very serious consequences. It is best treated if prevented. We report a technical modification of buttressing stapled resection line using autologous fascia lata.

Eating and body attitudes related to noncompetitive bodybuilding in military and general Hungarian male student populations.

Pathological eating attitudes and extreme weight control practices occur most commonly in certain female populations. In some young male occupation groups, such as in the armed forces, the appearance of physical strength and muscularity has particular importance. We studied body and eating attitudes and the prevalence of bodybuilding and steroid abuse in 480 military college and 752 general college male students.
