Here we investigate metabolic changes, the antioxidant system and the accumulation of oxidative damage in muscles with different fiber types during the aging process in Wistar rats and try to map how sooner the changes occur. To do so, 30 male Wistar rats were submitted to behavioral evaluation to determine voluntary strength in the 11, 15, and 19 month old rats, measuring the energy metabolism, antioxidant system, oxidative damage and structure in the soleus and extensor digitorum longus muscles. We detected structural and metabolic changes in both muscles, especially in the EDL of 15 month old rats and in the soleus of 19 month old rats.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors that are most correlated with the levels of functional disability in patients with fibromyalgia.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study in which 42 patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the criteria of the American College of Rheumatology reported their status using the following questionnaires: the Beck Depression Inventory, the Perceived Stress Scale 14, the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, the Visual Analog Pain Scale, and the Health Assessment Questionnaire.
Results: Moderate to severe levels of depression (Beck Depression Inventory: 22.
Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive, common brain cancer known to disrupt redox biology, affecting behavior and DNA integrity. Past research remains inconclusive. To further understand this, an investigation was conducted on physical training's effects on behavior, redox balance, and genomic stability in GBMA models.

The model of obesity induced by monosodium glutamate cytotoxicity on the hypothalamic nuclei is widely used in the literature. However, MSG promotes persistent muscle changes and there is a significant lack of studies that seek to elucidate the mechanisms by which damage refractory to reversal is established. This study aimed to investigate the early and chronic effects of MSG induction of obesity upon systemic and muscular parameters of Wistar rats.

However, it also presents a set of unquantified and poorly understood risks in the medium to long term, specifically, risks to children whose mothers were infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) during pregnancy. Infections during pregnancy can increase the risk of atypical neurodevelopment in the offspring, but the long-term neurodevelopmental impact of in utero COVID-19 exposure is unknown.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a PE program in animals with experimental GBM. Male C57BL/6J mice were randomized into sham or GBM groups and subjected to a PE program for four weeks.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the physical, chemical, and microbial attributes of sewage sludge (SS) aerated and cultivated with Pennisetum purpureum or Urochloa brizantha and, later, composted. The study was installed in a 2x2+2 factorial scheme, with four replications.

The thermal transformation of organic residues into biochar can be a sustainable way to reduce cadmium environmental availability and, at the same time, a waste management solution. We studied sixteen biochars in two versions: unaged and aged with hydrogen peroxide (HO), regarding their Cd retention capacity.

This study aims to use the zooplankton dynamics as a tool to evaluate the environmental impact in the coastal region, five years after the rupture, during periods of low and high river flow. Doce River flow varied from 49 to 5179 m/s and structured the zooplankton community between periods of low and high river flow, but salinity and chlorophyll-a had stronger correlation with depth (r = 0.

The impact of the tailings can last decades and cause chronic effects due to their toxicity. The Fundão dam collapse, a relevant environmental disaster, occurred in November 2015 in Southeastern Brazil.

Purpose Of Review: Laparoscopic myomectomy is a common surgical procedure for symptomatic myomas. However, bleeding control during surgery may pose a challenge. Therefore, the aim of this study was to review recent evidence regarding interventions to control bleeding during laparoscopic myomectomy.

Nasturtium officinale (Brassicaceae), commonly known as watercress is a perennial dicotyledonous plant usually found close to water. Although previous investigations have demonstrated the beneficial effects of watercress on hypercholesterolemia in animal studies, until now no such studies have been conducted with humans, up to this time.

Mice were fed commercial chow (control), an HCD, or an HFD for 12weeks. HFD and HCD increased body weight, fat mass, and glycaemia, whereas the HFD augmented insulinemia.

TPI is believed to be responsible for the fertility of Amazonian soils and their stability; therefore, the production of a synthetic TPI would be of great interest for agricultural applications. Biochar produced from different raw biomasses were comprehensively characterized and, based on the obtained results, a preliminary study was performed testing three different routes of chemical activation using nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and potassium hydroxide as activating agents.

Design: Video description of a case, demonstrating a step-by-step explanation of the decision planning and description of the surgical steps in a female patient with bilateral ureteral endometriosis who had previously undergone operation for bowel endometriosis, and who presented with extensive disease in the posterior compartment with no symptoms besides bilateral renal function disruption. The study was reviewed and approved by the Hospital Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo Institutional Review Board.

Introduction: Fish oil (FO) has an anti-inflammatory and pro-resolution activity and it has been used to restore physiological disturbances on inflammatory conditions. Here, we investigate whether FO supplementation could, acutely, prevent or restore inflammatory damages on experimental colitis.
Methods: Wistar rats orally received 2 g.
In this review, we present the state of art regarding rhizosphere effects on eucalypt plantations. It provides a greater understanding of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) turnover in forest soils. P organic hydrolysis, soil mineral solubilization, indoleacetic acid, gibberellin, resistance factors, and production of siderophores by rhizosphere microbial populations help to explain the tolerance of Eucalyptus plants to biotic and abiotic stresses and the apparent steady-state condition of C and N soil stocks in many planted forests.

Zooplankton were sampled five days after the tailings from the Samarco dam rupture reached the ocean in the coastal region at the mouth of the Doce River. This was one of the largest environmental disasters in Brazilian history, and the impacts on the marine biota are not yet fully understood. This study aimed to evaluate the zooplankton community short term responses to the metal enrichment after the tailings reached the coastal region in different scenarios.

Study Objective: To investigate why security of identical knot sequences is variable and how to avoid occasionally insecure knots.
Design: A factorial design was used to assess factors affecting the security of half knot (H) and half-hitch (S) knot combinations. The effect of tying forces and the risk factors to transform H knots into S knots were investigated.
