Critical systolic blood pressure threshold for endovascular aortic occlusion-A multinational analysis to determine when to place a REBOA.

Background: Systolic blood pressure (SBP) is a potential indicator that could guide when to use a resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) in trauma patients with life-threatening injuries. This study aims to determine the optimal SBP threshold for REBOA placement by analyzing the association between SBP pre-REBOA and 24-hour mortality in severely injured hemodynamically unstable trauma patients.

Korsakoff's syndrome (KS) is an insidious and progressive neuropsychiatric disorder that affects specific neurocognitive functioning, especially in tasks that require sustained attention, memory, executive functions, and visuospatial functioning. Usually, this disease generates neuropsychiatric complications that worsen the quality of life (QOL) of patients in the medium term. We present a case of a 63-year-old male who presented with a diagnosis of advanced Korsakoff's syndrome and has a clinical history of recurrent memory loss and a history of alcohol abuse.

Hard tick species (Acari: Ixodidae) and infestation in two livestock agroecosystems from Antioquia, Colombia.

Tick infestation affects about 80% of livestock globally while transmitting various pathogens causing high economic losses. This study aimed to determine the degree of tick infestation in two regions, North and Middle Magdalena in Antioquia, Colombia, to identify the ixodid tick species found and the associated risk factors. A cross-sectional study was carried out in 48 farms distributed in six municipalities of Antioquia.
