Article Synopsis
  • The study assesses the prevalence of hypogonadism in men undergoing partial nephrectomy and explores its connection to frailty and postoperative outcomes.
  • Among 9,105 men, 8.9% were found to be hypogonadal, showing that they were more frail than their counterparts, but there was no significant difference in hospital stay or complications following surgery.
  • Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) was linked to a reduced risk of emergency department visits in high-risk frail men, highlighting the importance of assessing frailty and potentially screening for testosterone levels in patients facing this surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • - This scoping review examines the impact of housing instability on health outcomes and analyzes US health system programs that screen for and respond to this issue, revealing notable variations in methods and policies across regions and demographics.
  • - A total of 30 studies from 2003 to 2023 were included, with most focusing on outpatient settings, primarily in academic hospital systems, and largely using custom screening tools rather than standardized ones.
  • - The findings highlight a lack of consistency in screening and response programs, indicating the need for standardized definitions and methods to improve effectiveness and comparability in future research.

Purpose: Epididymal cyst lesions (ECLs) include both spermatoceles and epididymal cysts and are often incidentally found on physical exam or scrotal US (SUS). We aimed to determine the association of ECLs and semen parameters among men presenting for fertility evaluation.

Materials And Methods: We reviewed men at our institution who had at least 1 semen analysis and SUS available for review between 2002 and 2022.

Background And Objective: Hypogonadism and frailty may impact postoperative outcomes for men undergoing radical nephrectomy (RN). We aimed to determine the prevalence of hypogonadism in men undergoing RN and whether hypogonadism and frailty are associated with adverse postoperative outcomes.

Methods: We identified men undergoing RN between 2012 and 2021 using the IBM Marketscan database.

Introduction: Hypogonadism is associated with frailty, lower health-related quality of life, decreased muscle mass, and premature mortality, which may predispose patients to poor postoperative outcomes. We aimed to determine the prevalence of hypogonadism in men undergoing radical cystectomy (RC) and whether hypogonadism and frailty are associated with adverse postoperative outcomes.

Materials And Methods: The IBM MarketScan database was used to identify men who underwent RC between 2012 and 2021.
