The present study investigates the impact of Hispanic women's marital status on the occurrence of intimate partner violence (IPV) and reproductive coercion (RC), resulting in unintended pregnancy (UIP). This is a significant public health concern as prior research has shown Hispanic women are disproportionately affected by UIP more than non-Hispanic White women. Data were drawn from the 2018 to 2020 Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System dataset of Hispanic women ( = 3,725) who have just given birth within the last 9 months and responded to all relevant survey items.

Mucosal-associated invariant T cells (MAIT cells) are a subset of T cells with innate, effector-like properties that play an essential role in the immune response to microbial infections. In humans, MAIT cells are detectable in the blood, liver, and lungs, but little is known about the frequency of these cells in the bone marrow. Also, the pathogenic role, if any, of MAIT cells in the development of aplastic anemia, a disease with an exquisite origin in the bone marrow, is currently unknown.

Patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) have an increased risk of developing severe infections. In recent years, bloodstream infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria have been increasingly reported among HCT recipients, and many of these infections are caused by bacterial strains of the Enterobacterales order. Among these pathogens, particularly concerning are the multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales (MDRE), such as Extended Spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales and Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales, since infections caused by these pathogens are difficult to treat due to the limited antimicrobial options and are associated with worse transplant outcomes.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate two sets of sesquiterpene-aryl derivatives linked by an ester bond, their cytotoxic activities, and their capacity to activate caspases 3/7 and inhibit human topoisomerase I (TOP1). A total of 13 compounds were synthesized from the natural sesquiterpene (-)-drimenol and their cytotoxic activity was evaluated in vitro against three cancer cell lines: PC-3 (prostate cancer), HT-29 (colon cancer), MCF-7 (breast cancer), and an immortalized non-tumoral cell line (MCF-10). From the results, it was observed that was the most promising compound due to its cytotoxic effect on three cancer cell lines and its selectivity, was 100-fold more selective than 5-FU in MCF-7 and 20-fold in PC-3.

Five new brassinosteroid analogues were synthetized from 3β-acetoxy-23,24-dinorchol-4-en-22-oic acid. All the obtained compound showed significant activity in the Rice Lamina Inclination Test. Interestingly the effects of the methyl ester of 3β-hydroxy-6-oxo-23,24-dinorcholan-22-oic acid (14) at concentrations of 1 × 10 and 1 × 10 M proved to be higher than those produced by brassinolide.

A single crystal of a piperonal chalcone derivative was obtained, fully characterized, and crystallized by a slow evaporation technique. The synthesized compound was characterized by UV-Visible, FT-IR, HRMS, H NMR, and C NMR spectroscopic studies and X-ray crystallography, revealing that the crystal belongs to a triclinic crystal system with a 1̄ space group, = 2. Resistance to colistin generated by the gene in is of great concern due to its efficient worldwide spread.
