Lager beer is made with the hybrid Saccharomyces pastorianus. Many publicly available S. pastorianus genome assemblies are highly fragmented due to the difficulties of assembling hybrid genomes, such as the presence of homeologous chromosomes from both parental types, and translocations between them.
