Association of maternal, fetal and labor variables with a low Apgar score in the fifth minute in term pregnancy: a case-control study.

Purpose: To search for maternal, labor-related and fetal variables associated with low Apgar in the fifth minute in term pregnancy.

Methods: A retrospective case-control study with term births was conducted in a public teaching hospital from 2013 to 2020. Cases were term births with Apgar score less than 7 in the fifth minute, and controls, the next one or two births following a case, with Apgar of 7 or more.

Vesicouterine Fistula (Youssef Syndrome): Case Report and Literature Review.

Objective:  To describe a case of vesicouterine fistula and to review the literature related to this condition.

Methods:  For the review, we accessed the MEDLINE, BIREME and LILACS databases; the references of the searched articles were also reviewed.

Results:  A 38-year-old woman, in the 1st day after her 3rd cesarean, presented heavy hematuria, which was considered secondary to a difficult dissection of the bladder.

Late prematurity: a systematic review.

Objective: this study aimed to review the literature regarding late preterm births (34 weeks to 36 weeks and 6 days of gestation) in its several aspects.

Sources: the MEDLINE, LILACS, and Cochrane Library databases were searched, and the references of the articles retrieved were also used, with no limit of time.

Data Synthesis: numerous studies showed a recent increase in late preterm births.

[Association between mode of delivery and maternal complications in a public hospital in Greater Metropolitan São Paulo, Brazil].

The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between mode of delivery and maternal complications, based on a retrospective cohort of all births at a public hospital in 2003. Complications included: infection, hemorrhage, hysterectomy, uterine rupture, lesions in adjacent organs, deep venous thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. The analysis used odds ratio (OR), chi-squared test, and Fisher's exact test, besides logistic regression.

Evidence for benefits from treating cervical ectopy: literature review.

Context And Purpose: Uterine cervical ectopy (cervical erosion) is today considered to be a physiological condition, but there still seems to be a strong tendency towards treating it. The purpose of this study was to review the medical literature for evidence regarding benefits from treating cervical ectopy.

Methods: The following databases were reviewed: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), Excerpta Medica Database (Embase), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (Lilacs) and Cochrane Library databases.
