Social and community networks constitute an important social determinant of health, especially in the poorer segments of civil society and in their struggles to guarantee the right to health care. This study sought to understand the social and community networks created by women living in a low-income community and their relationship with the development of health care in this social group. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 11 women participating in a nongovernmental organization in the community, and the data were subjected to content analysis.

We intended to explore whether a connection could be found between the Agatston calcification score, prior to kidney donation, and post-donation renal function.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 156 living kidney donors who underwent living donor nephrectomy between January 2010 and December 2016.
While the link between navigation and astronomy is quite evident and its history has been extensively explored, the prognosticatory element included in astronomical knowledge has been almost completely left out. In the early modern world, the science of the stars also included prognostication known today as astrology. Together with astronomical learning, navigation also included astrology as a means to predict the success of a journey.

It addresses the prohibitions put forward in Rule IX of the Index of Trent and the bull of Sixtus V, and studies its impact on the rules and their interpretation in the Spanish and Portuguese Indices, in particular, those published in the first decades of the seventeenth century: the Spanish of 1612 and the Portuguese of 1624. It shows how these indices offer a more meticulous examination of the prohibitions providing not only more detail regarding the different practices of astrology, but also explicitly accept the doctrine of inclinations of Thomas Aquinas as a central rule to deal with astrological judgments on human behaviour.

Although acute diverticulitis usually follows a benign course - uncomplicated diverticulitis (UCD), up to 25% may develop complicated diverticulitis (CD) including abscesses, fistulas, strictures, and perforation. Current guidelines recommend performing colonoscopy after an episode of acute diverticulitis to rule out colorectal cancer (CRC).

Coagulation can be normalized via the application of haemostatic products, including fresh frozen plasma (FFP) or prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs). Guidelines recommend PCCs for the reversal of OAT in preference to FFP in patients with major/life-threatening bleeding and high INRs.

Introduction: The effectiveness of screening colonoscopy in decreasing the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) is largely dependent on the detection of polyps and the quality of the procedure. Several key quality measures have been proposed to improve the effectiveness of screening colonoscopies.
Aim: To evaluate quality indicators of screening colonoscopy in a tertiary hospital.
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was initially described as a typical microorganism acquired in nosocomial infections. Serious infections such as pneumonia and sepsis can also occur.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of CKD stage 3, 4 and 5 in people submitted to dosage of serum creatinine due to different causes, employing a dataset from a private laboratory of the city of Juiz de Fora comprising the years 2004 and 2005.
Methods: Diagnosis and staging of CKD were based upon glomerular filtration rate (GFR) estimated from serum creatinine as recommended by the KDOQI of the National Kidney Foundation and the Brazilian Society of Nephrology.
