Drought-related die-off events have been observed throughout Europe in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Such events are exacerbated by carbon starvation that is, an imbalance of photosynthetic productivity and resource usage.

The genus, consisting of different pitviper species, is considered the most medically significant taxa in Central and South America. Further research into venom composition is important to aid in the development of safer and more effective snakebite treatments.

We aimed to evaluate the impact of multiplex polymerase chain reaction (mPCR) on antibiotic use. We conducted a prospective study of children under 14 years of age admitted for suspected viral pneumonia, from October 2019 to June 2022 (except March-November 2020).

Three-finger toxins (3FTxs) in snake venoms primarily cause neurotoxic effects since they have high affinity for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). Their small molecular size makes 3FTxs weakly immunogenic and therefore not appropriately targeted by current antivenoms.

Data Sources: PubMed-MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Gynecology and Fertility Specialized Register of Controlled Trials, and Google Scholar were consulted from inception to June 2022 using combinations of the relevant Medical Subject Headings terms and keywords. The search included major clinical trial registries such as ClinicalTrials.
The cytotoxicity caused by snake venoms is a serious medical problem that greatly contributes to the morbidity observed in snakebite patients. The cytotoxic components found in snake venoms belong to a variety of toxin classes and may cause cytotoxic effects by targeting a range of molecular structures, including cellular membranes, the extracellular matrix (ECM) and the cytoskeleton. Here, we present a high-throughput assay (384-well plate) that monitors ECM degradation by snake venom toxins via the application of fluorescent versions of model ECM substrates, specifically gelatin and collagen type I.

The variability found in snake venom is what makes it immensely complex to study. These variations are present both in the big and the small molecules found in snake venom.

Methods: Retrospective study of BSI in children 0-18 years with EB from a national reference unit in Spain, in 2015-2020.
Introduction: Dysmorphic uterus or T-shaped uterus is an increasingly frequent diagnosis among the infertile population that has been associated to worse reproductive results. Hysteroscopic metroplasty is a safe and simple procedure that can improve the reproductive outcomes in this group of patients, although the benefits of this procedure remains controversial due to the lack of adequate scientific evidence.
Objective: To analyze the hysteroscopic metroplasty using the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) methodology.
Due to technological advancements in miniaturization of instruments and improved optics, the number of office hysteroscopic procedures has increased over time. Office hysteroscopy is preferred due to avoidance of general anesthesia and decreased overall cost. Vasovagal syncope has been implied as the most common complication.

The most basic of these models consider the total population of a region to be closed. Many incorporate human mobility into their transmission dynamics, usually based on static and aggregated data.

This involvement may influence medical decisions and, therefore, should be identified in the medical history of a patient (anamnesis). To verify the opinion of undergraduate medical students of the Paulista School of Medicine - Federal University of São Paulo regarding the use of a patient's Spirituality/Religiosity as a therapeutic resource in clinical practice.

Methods: A prospective, single-center, parallel-group, randomized phase 3 clinical trial analyzed patients with a diagnosis of carcinomatosis from ovarian cancer treated with neoadjuvant systemic chemotherapy (NACT). In this trial, 71 patients were randomized to receive CRS alone (36 patients) or CRS with HIPEC (35 patients) using cisplatin (75 mg/m for 60 min at 42 °C).

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, nonpharmaceutical interventions, such as mobility restrictions, have been globally adopted as critically important strategies to curb the spread of infection. However, such interventions come with immense social and economic costs and the relative effectiveness of different mobility restrictions are not well understood. Some recent works have used telecoms data sources that cover fractions of a population to understand behavioral changes and how these changes have impacted case growth.

Data Sources: A systematic electronic search from inception each database up to April 2021 including the following databases was conducted: PubMed-MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, the CGF Specialized Register of Controlled Trials, Google Scholar, and trial registries. A combination of the following keywords was used: uterine septum, septate uterus, congenital uterine malformation, class 2 uterus, class V uterus, metroplasty, hysteroscopic, pregnancy, clinical pregnancy, ongoing pregnancy, miscarriage, live birth, preterm birth, cesarean section, 'cesarean delivery, and fetal malpresentation.
Objective: To develop a consensus statement of recommended terminology to use for describing different aspects of hysteroscopic procedures that can be uniformly used in clinical practice and research.
Design: Open forum discussion followed by online video meetings.
Setting: International community of hysteroscopy experts PATIENTS: Not applicable.

The septate uterus is still a matter of debate and discussion today in different medical forums. The controversy is divided between 2 different quite divergent opinions: on the one hand, those who promote its surgical correction; and on the other hand, those who advocate expectant management with no recommended surgical intervention. It is extremely difficult to determine the association between septum and infertility.
