[Lugol as a rare cause of anaphylactic reaction after colposcopy. Case report].

Introduction: Lugol is a solution composed of elemental iodine (5%) and potassium iodide (10%) together with distilled water, used during colposcopic assessment to identify possible cervical cell alterations.

Case Report: A 31-year-old female who presents an episode suggestive of anaphylaxis ninety minutes after a colposcopy exploration, successfully treated with intramuscular hydrocortisone and desclorfeniramine. During colposcopy Lugol solution and acetic acid was applied.

[Anaphylaxis to hymenoptera sting: study of 113 patients].

Background And Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical and epidemiological features of anaphylactic reactions to hymenoptera stings, with a case-history analysis according to severity.

Patients And Method: We conducted an observational descriptive study of patients aged between 10 and 80 years who suffered a systemic reaction after hymenoptera sting. All of them showed specific serum IgE to venoms from Apis, Vespula and/or Polistes.
