Late compliance with the sepsis resuscitation bundle: impact on mortality.

Early compliance with the sepsis resuscitation bundle has been suggested to reduce mortality. However, few data are available about the impact of late compliance with the bundle on outcomes. The aim of this study was to assess whether the completion of the resuscitation bundle within the first 6 h after admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), but beyond the specific time limit of the various bundle interventions, is related to an improvement in survival.

Impact of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign protocols on hospital length of stay and mortality in septic shock patients: results of a three-year follow-up quasi-experimental study.

Objectives: To describe the effectiveness of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign bundles with regard to both implementation and outcome in patients with septic shock and to determine the contribution of the various elements of the bundles to the outcome.

Design: Quasi-experimental study with a historical comparison group.

Setting: The three medical-surgical intensive care units of an academic tertiary care center.

Human herpesvirus-8 infection and Kaposi's sarcoma after liver and kidney transplantation in different geographical areas of Spain.

Since data on human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) infection in Spain is not available, our purpose was to determine the prevalence of HHV-8 infection and the risk of developing Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) among organ transplant recipients in different geographical areas of Spain. The study population consisted of 1019 liver and kidney transplant recipients recruited in four transplant units in Spain. Only post-transplant serum samples were available for all participants.
