Background: Congenital lung malformations (CLMs) refer to structural abnormalities of the lungs that occur during fetal development. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) constitute a group of zinc-dependent enzymes, with certain members of this family playing pivotal roles in the remodeling of the lungs both prenatally and postnatally. This study aimed to explore expression levels of MMP-2, MMP-7, and MMP-9 in CLMs which are recognized as pivotal contributors to their clinical pathology.

Background: Encephalitis is a group of inflammatory brain diseases caused by infectious or autoimmune processes. We describe detection of SAT2 topotype XIV foot-and-mouth disease viruses in western Asia during 2022-2023. Sequences show the viruses originated in eastern Africa and were introduced into western Asia on >1 occasion. The rapid spread in naive animals highlights risks for onward transmission and potential endemicity in Asia.

Qualitative Investigation of Nurses' Working Conditions After a Major Earthquake in Türkiye.

Aims: We aimed to determine the working conditions and share the experiences of local earthquake-affected nurses and volunteer nurses from other regions in the first days after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes that took place in Türkiye on February 6, 2023.

Design: A phenomenological approach was adopted in this inductive qualitative study.

Methods: In-depth individual interviews were held between April and May 2023 with a total of 16 nurses who worked in the earthquake-affected areas or were voluntarily assigned from other provinces.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the special needs reports for children (SNRC) in terms of sociodemographic characteristics, diagnoses, and areas of special needs in the five years from 2019, when special health boards for children were established with the new diagnostic and evaluation criteria.

Methods: This descriptive study was conducted by retrospectively reviewing the board evaluation reports of children aged 0-18 years who applied to Batman Training and Research Hospital SNRC Health Board between March 2019 and March 2024. Objective: It is well-known that children who suffer from obesity and asthma may also have exercise-induced bronchospasm. Exhaled nitric oxide is an indicator of airway inflammation, and could be affected by exercise. This study looked at how exercise, which is a typical cause of acute airway obstruction, affects the levels of FeNO and spirometric parameters in obese and asthmatic children.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a clinical condition that arises acutely in the pancreas through various inflammatory pathways due to multiple causes. Turkish Society of Gastroenterology Pancreas Working Group developed comprehensive guidance statements regarding the management of AP that include its epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, disease severity, treatment, prognosis, local and systemic complications. The statements were developed through literature review, deliberation, and consensus opinion.
