Background: Since children and adolescents usually spend their theoretical course time at schools, they experience many negative effects of inactivity and physical inactivity. They are disadvantaged in terms of facing many health and social problems due to lack of physical activity. This sedentary life increases their exposure to screens and the time they spend sitting.

A novel aptasensor platform for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen using quartz crystal microbalance.

In this study, a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) aptasensor for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), a well-known biomarker for various cancer types, was reported, utilizing two different aptamers. To achieve this, a nanofilm of 4-mercaptophenyl was electrochemically attached to gold-coated QCM crystal surfaces via the reduction of 4-mercaptobenzenediazonium salt (4 MB-DAT) using cyclic voltammetry. Subsequently, gold nanoparticles (AuNP) were affixed to this structure, and then aptamers (antiCEA1 and antiCEA2) modified with SH-functional ends bound to AuNPs completed the modification.

Importance of mediastinal granulomatous/sarcoid-like lymphadenopathy in extrathoracic malignancies.

Background: In patients with extrathoracic malignancies (ETM), granulomatous lymph adenopathy called sarcoid-like reactions (SLR) can be seen in the regional or draining lymph nodes. We hypothesized that SLR may be a sign of imminent metastasis and investigated the clinical course and rate of recurrence in patients with ETM and granulomatous mediastinal lymphadenopathy (MLN).

Methods: In this retrospective observational study, we reviewed the medical files of patients with known ETM and who underwent EBUS-TBNA for initial staging or detection of recurrence from 2011 to 2023.

Development and Evaluation of Combined Effect Buccal Films for Treatment of Oral Candidiasis.

Comparison of Planar Imaging Using Dual-phase Tc-99m-sestamibi Scintigraphy and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography/Computed Tomography in Hyperparathyroidism.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare Technetium-99m (Tc-99m)-sestamibi dual-phase planar imaging method and delayed phase single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) imaging in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism and to evaluate the accuracy of scintigraphy with histopathological results.

Methods: Thirty-six patients with a prediagnosis of hyperparathyroidism, who had not been operated on the neck region before, and were not followed up for any other malignancy, and has confirmed histopathologic and biochemical diagnosis after parathyroidectomy, were retrospectively scanned and included in the study. The images of 36 patients who underwent dual-phase Tc-99m-sestamibi planar scintigraphy at the 20 and 120 minutes in the nuclear medicine clinic and delayed phase SPECT/CT imaging immediately after the 120 minute planar imaging were evaluated visually by two nuclear medicine specialists as positive or negative lesion.

Effect of adjunctive sodium hyaluronate versus surfactant nasal irrigation on mucociliary clearance in allergic rhinitis: a single-blind, randomised, controlled study.

Objective: To investigate the effects of nasal irrigation with sodium hyaluronate and surfactant solutions on mucociliary clearance time in patients with mild persistent allergic rhinitis.

Methods: A total of 120 patients diagnosed with mild persistent allergic rhinitis were enrolled in this prospective study. The patients were allocated randomly to the surfactant, sodium hyaluronate or isotonic saline (as a control) nasal irrigation group.

Hysterectomy was performed (n = 15) in group 1 [H]; 1 mg/kg/day PPAR-γ agonist/rosiglitazone was used for 50 days after hysterectomy (n = 15) in group 2 [H + R]; a sham operation was performed (n = 15) in group 3 [control, C].

Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) is rare in children, but it still remains the most common endocrine malignancy in children. The aim of this study was to analyze treatment response to radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy, clinical outcomes, recurrences, survival analysis, and long-term follow-up. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 43 pediatric patients (≤17 years of age) with DTC diagnosis after thyroidectomy who were treated with RAI.
