Balamuthia mandrillaris meningoencephalitis associated with solid organ transplantation--review of cases.

We report the first identified transmission of Balamuthia mandrillaris through solid organ transplantation. Kidneys were transplanted from a donor with presumptive diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis. Shortly after, the recipients developed neurologic symptoms.
