Asserting a Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder with a Complementary Diagnostic Approach: A Brief Report.

Introduction: Functional neurological symptom disorder (FNSD) is a common diagnosis among adolescents. However, we feel it is a difficult diagnosis to assess because of the diversity of its clinical manifestations, the rapid changes in its nosography over the years, and its common imbrication with established somatic diagnoses. We would like to illustrate this hypothesis through a case presentation and the original diagnostic process that emerged from it.

[A patient education program for adolescents with anorexia nervosa].

Patient education program (PEP) aims to help the patient acquire the skills necessary to manage a chronic disease. A multidisciplinary TPE program for adolescents with anorexia nervosa was developed in a daycare hospital setting. This qualitative study, exploring the experience of the caregivers involved in this program, reports the benefits but more so the difficulties linked to the clinical specificities of anorexia nervosa, as well as the numerous requirements, constraints and necessary adjustments linked to this innovative practice.

Experiences of French medical students during their clerkship in adolescent psychiatry: a qualitative study.

The epidemiology of adolescent psychiatric disorders and the relational complexity of their management make exposure to adolescent psychiatry essential during medical school. However, some clinical particularities can complicate the students' learning experiences. Our work aimed to explore the experience of being a medical student during clerkships in adolescent psychiatry.

This is the case of Alice, a 16-year-old teenager treated at the Cochin Hospital's adolescent centre, who presents digestive disorders and strange body sensations mas-king anxiety-depressive affects.

[Multidisciplinary care of an adolescent with somatic disorders].

Theo's clinical observation illustrates the management of a 14-year-old adolescent with unexplained somatic symptoms. His symptoms can be integrated into what the classification of mental illnesses calls a somatic symptom disorder, with a depressive comorbidity. The description of the care pathway shows the gradual acceptance of psychological suffering by the adolescent and his parents in a service where different professionals are involved, with sufficient time for a good therapeutic alliance to be built.
