Mucocele of the appendix is an uncommon disorder, characterized by a cystic dilatation of the lumen; it's mainly due to mucinous cystadenoma. Definite diagnosis is difficult preoperatively. It can be discovered incidentally at laparotomy or laparoscopy performed for other reason.
