Quantitative Comparison of Color Asymmetry Features for Automatic Melanoma Detection.

Asymmetry assessment is an important step towards melanoma detection. This paper compares some of the color asymmetry features proposed in the literature which have been used to automatically detect melanoma from color images. A total of nine features were evaluated based on their accuracy in predicting lesion asymmetry on a dataset of 277 images.

Comparison of the Simple Patient-Centric Atopic Dermatitis Scoring System PEST with SCORAD in Young Children Using a Ceramide Dominant Therapeutic Moisturizer.

Introduction: Patient eczema severity time (PEST) is a new atopic dermatitis (AD) scoring system based on patients' own perception of their disease. Conventional scales such as SCORing of atopic dermatitis (SCORAD) reflect the clinician's observations during the clinic visit. Instead, the PEST score captures eczema severity, relapse and recovery as experienced by the patient or caregiver on a daily basis, promoting patient engagement, compliance with treatment and improved outcomes.

Assessment of psychosocial impact of genital warts among patients in Singapore.

Unlabelled: Background Genital warts (GW) are a common sexually transmissible infection (STI) among young adults and are associated with poor quality of life (QoL). We investigated the functional and psychosocial effect of GW on Singaporean patients and evaluated for any variations in QoL between genders.

Methods: Patients with GW completed a standard questionnaire containing the Short Form-36 (SF-36) health survey and the Cuestionario Específico para Condiloma Acuminado in a cross-sectional survey.

Evaluation of a Pseudoceramide Moisturizer in Patients with Mild-to-Moderate Atopic Dermatitis.

Introduction: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a pseudoceramide-containing moisturizer as maintenance therapy in patients with mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (AD).

Methods: This was a prospective, single-arm, open-label clinical trial of a twice-daily application of a pseudoceramide-containing moisturizer for 4 weeks as maintenance therapy in 40 patients with stable, mild-to-moderate AD in a tropical climate. Clinical and skin barrier assessment was done at week 0, week 2 and week 4.

Successful Treatment of Tattoo-Induced Pseudolymphoma with Sequential Ablative Fractional Resurfacing Followed by Q-Switched Nd: YAG 532 nm Laser.

Decorative tattooing has been linked with a range of complications, with pseudolymphoma being unusual and challenging to manage. We report a case of tattoo-induced pseudolymphoma, who failed treatment with potent topical and intralesional steroids. She responded well to sequential treatment with ablative fractional resurfacing (AFR) followed by Q-Switched (QS) Nd:YAG 532 nm laser.

We reviewed its associations with immunosuppression and phototherapy, as well as the risks of malignant progression.
