Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore how different biomaterials affect the healing of abdominal wounds in incisional hernias using rabbits.
  • During the experiment, researchers used various mesh types (PREMILENE®, ULTRAPRO®, PROCEED®) and compared them to repairs without mesh, analyzing the outcomes after 30 days.
  • Results indicated that while all mesh types led to adhesion formation, UP and PCD had less adhesion area and vascularization, while PPL and PCD experienced more mesh shrinkage and a stronger acute inflammatory response.
